Paris apartments - please help decide between these two or more!
 

My husband, myself and our two grown sons are planning a 2 week visit to Paris in May. I have only just started exploring available apartments as it has taken us a long time to decide where to go on our family vacation! I have found reasonable rates at www.parisAdress.com and wondering if I could get some help deciding between these two apartments. We have been to Paris before, once in 2003, and this trip we plan mostly to soak up the culture and enjoy the wine and food. We would like easy access to shops, etc., and walking distance to most things. Price is also a concern and I would prefer to pay less (or much less if possible) than 3000 Euros for the two weeks. I am certainly open to other recommendations but again price is an issue. I have looked at many of the Paris Apartment discussions here and have found most recommendations are more costly.

ParisAddress has two apartments that look lovely, are in our price range, but are in different areas of the city. They are AMEL 108 in Marais and DUBAIL in Republique/10th at www.parisAddress.com. Thanks for any help with this!

I'm not much help but the sofa of the DUBAIL looks lumpy.

For those who would help if you go to all the way to the bottom of the page there is a little box on the left that says, "quick access" it's easy to find the two lily is looking at.

I'd prefer the AMEL108, since it has more architectural charm.

I'd also like to say that my family rented an apartment with Paris Address in 2008, and it was a great company to work with. Their description of the place we rented was accurate and everyone I dealt with was very helpful.

Either district is good for what you are looking for. Personally I think I might prefer the one on rue Amelot (if only because the description actually gives you that vital information). The DUBAIL apartment could be anywhere within a fair number of streets that may or may not have the feel that you're looking for (though in general terms the area does have plenty of life).

Don't forget you can check out what any given street looks like, what sort of businesses there are around, and so on, on www.pagesjaunes.fr, as well as Google Streetview.

Unless I missed it, AMEL 108 has one bathroom and the bath has only a handheld shower. I prefer a standard shower, either in bath or separate stall.

We rented a tiny one-bedroom (just three people, and one of them six years old) called DOMA14 or something like that (on rue Domat in the 5th). Definitely not big enough for your gang this time.

I like the Amelot, good location (and, as Patrick noted, you can see where it is), lots of books and windows and a big TV. What more could anyone ask for?

To Lily and LSky: oh yes! I fully agree that the white & blue sofa does not look at its best! But the pictures on PA website are not upto date: I got rid of it in April 2011 when I received (at last!) a new sofa bed, that also provides excellent additional beding arrangement. ParisAddress is due to take new pictures of the flat soon. Hopefully next time you would chose to stay there.

To PatrickLondon: the flat is named after the street ("passage" to be specific, hence a quiet place to be) where it is located. Two steps from rue des Récollets, rue des Vinaigriers and canal Saint Martin, an area with plenty of life as you wrote.
