My wife and I rented apt 102 from www.ahparis.com on rue de Archives and loved it. One bedroom with a modern bathroom, small kitchen and a lovely location. The only downside is that it is on the fifth floor with no elevator. Wife says next time, an elevator!

Has anyone ever dealt with Panache Apartment Rentals? I have my heart set on staying in the Marais - this is advertised as being in the 3rd, but the address (68 Boulevard Beaumarchais) is really in the 11th (the edge of the the 3rd and 11th). The apartment looks great, but I'm worried that I'm getting too far out - last time we were in Paris we stayed in Montparnasse and we really wanted to be in a more central neighborhood this time. Comments appreciated.

Or, suggestions for Marais area or near Luxembourg Gardens? My husband is very tall - 6'6" so we really need a place with twin beds or a king bed (maybe a queen). I would so appreciate any recommendations. We are going mid-July to the end of the month - about 16 days in total.

One more question about apartment location: where would you stay in the Marais? On Boulevard Beaumarchais near the Chemin Vert metro or on rue do Bretagne (cross streets is near Rue Charlat) It's so hard to tell from the maps which location keeps you in the loop in terms of ease of metro use and bus connections.

I just posted an answer to your question on another thread, but didn't know the cross street. I see you're at Rue Charlot--I think that is a great location. U can easily walk to the "heart of the Marais" in 5 minutes. Lots of restaurants very close by and Fougasse, a bakery is right there and is fabulous. Check out the Paris metro and bus site http://www.ratp.info/touristes/index.php. It will show u exactly what metro stops and buses lines are near your apt.

Thank you yestravel
I appreciate your suggestion and I wasn't aware of the address you noted above....I will check out both locations.

I just saw your request for an apt with a king bed -- tough to find. Two that we have stayed in in the Marais are the following: in the village of St Paul http://www.rentalfrance.com/index.ph...37-rue-st-paul
and http://www.bienvenueaparis.com/apt-bourg.htm

We really loved the 2nd one, the apt and the location, but this last trip we gave 37 rue St Paul a try since the rate was substantially lower. It is on the 4th floor and no elevator, but that didn't bother us --figured we'd work a croissant or 2 off with the steps. Cozy apt and convenient location. I dont know about a/c in either of them as we were there in the winter. Good luck!

Best thread ever. Last Sept.(our first trip to Paris) we stayed in Paris Perfect "Champagne" and it was marvelous. View of E.T., loved the feel of the neighborhood, lovely decor. We are planning to go back in Sept. 2011, only 82 weeks away! Thinking of staying on the right bank in the 8th or 1st. Any suggestions for apartments?

Thanks, Joan! I found something in the Madeleine area .. what do you think of the area?

gracejoan3 Feb 27th, 2010 01:22 PM

laurela,

I like the Madeleine area...many good dining places, good shopping..good area.I stayed at the Westminster Opera on rue de la Paix a few years ago which is nearby. Good transportation, too.

Post you apt and someone may be able to give you more information on it...

laurela,

I don't know if you have settled on your apartment, but here is another that you might want to take a look at:http://www.vrbo.com/266522

Hi, Joan..
The vrbo/266522 is GORGEOUS! We've put it on our list. What do you think of this (it's top of our budget for sure)...

Our last apartment was in the 15th, near Cambronne and La Motte Picquet - Grenelle metro stops. I liked the area: residential and near shops where our bad French seemed to be a curiosity rather than an annoyance. The vrbo owner had said it was in the 7th; it doesn't seem to be available anymore.

I'm hoping to follow this thread for ideas.

laurela,

I think the parisforrent apartment looks great. Very attractive.

If that is the area you want to be in, great. You have good bus/metro transportation to wherever you want to go.

As you know, I am always in the 7th Rapp/Bourdonnais area. I take the 42 bus up that way often. I do enjoy l'Obe in the Crillon...right nearby...

stokebailey...they often tell you 7th when pretty borderline 15th/7th...many look for places to live in that part of Paris..7th is very expensive and if they can find something in the upper 15th, they are pleased!!

good luck with it...

Joan

Thanks, Joan. It turned out great, and I might not have considered the 15th if I hadn't been lured into it that way.

gracejoan3 Mar 1st, 2010 10:51 AM

stokebailey,

There are quite a few nice rentals all around the Commerce area up to the 7th. Commerce area is good shopping...

We are just leaving tonight (sob!) from a beautiful 2BR, 2BA apartment in the first, between the Palais Royale and Les Halles. Big country-style kitchen, huge windows, very elegant look. I have loved walking to rue Montorgeuil to do food shopping. It's perfect for two couples. You can see it at http://www.welcome2france.com/?apartments=8. I wasn't sure I'd like staying in the first, thought it would be crowded with tourists, but this street is very quiet. We rode the 72 bus almost every day along the Seine.
