Paris Apartment Rental

We are looking for apartment rental in Paris. Last time, we stayed on the right bank by Pompidou. This time, we'd like to stay on the left bank, perhaps Marais/Latin Quarters. Rick Steves' highly recommend Rue Cler area but it seems not as convenient to bus/metro, is that correct?

If anyone has good recommendation with a particular unit or agency, please share the info.

Hello!

We are renting an apt in June from Pascal Zytomirski-www.rentalfrance.com.

From our initial email communications to sending the contract, he has been very responsive to my emails, and answered all of our questions. Thus, far we have been very happy with Pascal; I will post a trip report upon my return in late June.

I got his name and company from the Fodorites. He was also mentioned on a recent NY Times article: http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/04/22...2parisweb.html

Have fun with your search!

We rented in Sept. from www.FranceforRent.com

Their service was very efficient, and the apartment on Ile St. Louis was wonderful.

Pat Combusson(sp) was our agent. She was extremely helpful when our plane was delayed because of weather, and then our luggage was lost.

We go to Paris often, but this was our first apartment experience. From now on, that is the way we will go.

As far as location, we like to stay as close to the Seine as possible for convenience and being right on Ile St. Louis was perfect.

what sort of budget? Some agencies cater to posh/high end budgets. Others have more moderately priced apartments.

also be sure to check vrbo and homelidays which are sites that link you to individual owners.

I have rented from www.rentparis.com. Many of their apartments are in the Marais (which is on the right bank).

I have also stayed in two apartments on the left bank, in the Latin Quarter, through the following sites:

www.private-paris.com

www.paris-sleeps.com

pnk - I would be interested in your review after June as well. Which apartment are you staying in? The single bedroom in the Latin Quarter looks nice to me (and has A/C!). I can't seem to find the info on their website but what kind of a down payment is required and what forms of payment do they accept?

Thanks!

Hello Amelie,

This is the apt we are renting:

http://www.rentalfrance.com/index.ph...37-rue-st-paul

One caveat it does NOT have an elevator, but we do not mind since we are a 'fit' 40-somethings. however, it helps a bit since I have an insatiable sweet tooth and LOVE food! :-)

Pascal requires 30% of the rental amount for a deposit.

Greetings, Carcassonne,

The Marais IS on the Right Bank.
So if you want the Left Bank, you don't want to search for Marais apts.

One idea for Rue Cler area is, go to the website for Hotel Relais Bosquet. They rent an apt also at a very reasonable rate, but it is often booked.

There are also flats in that area from ParisPerfect (I rented one last time, and it wsa lovely) but their prices are VERY high, and they no longer lock in the charge in US Dollars, which used to give some sort of protectin from the unstable USD

I stayed last time in the 7th Arrondissement and did not find it inconvenient. We took busses around town. On trip in May, we're staying at a flat in Le Marais, to get a feel for a different part of the city.

Bonne chance, and Bon Voyage!!

Last year my husband and I rented an apartment in Le Marais. http://www.parisbestlodge.com/

We dealt with Thierry, who was most helpful and efficient. The location was fabulous. We took the Studio, but he has other apartments which are larger or more fancy. I would stay there again. It was on the 3rd floor which may not suit everyone, but we are in our mid 50's and it was no problem for us. The street is full of restaurants, shops etc, and a 3 min walk to the Metro.

Thanks everyone for your helpful links.

I now realize that Marais is on the right bank, not left. How would one compare Marais against Latin Quarters as far as restaurants and local shopping? Prices seem to be slightly cheaper in Marais.

As for 6th and 7th, are they not as convenient? I remember 6th was a little more upscale and residential. Some says 7th is not as convenient for metro/bus, is that right?

gaelle Feb 9th, 2008 07:27 AM

I've been going to Paris for 30 years and have most of the time ended up in the 7th. there is the rue cler and many, many restaurants at all price points within walking distance. I like it because at the end of a long day, you can go to a local restaurant and that's your entertainment for the night. The metro is just as convenient as any other neighborhood.

Carcassone, if you stayed last time near the Pompidou, then you probably stayed in the Marais.

We have rented from vacation in paris and parisian home. We liked the apts from vacation in paris because we were able to pay in USD using our credit card. phone calls to USA were free from the apts we rented. They were located close to the metro stations. They also mail you the key for the apt in advance of your visit. http://www.vacationinparis.com/

the other company we have used is www.parisianhome.com. They do not always respond promptly to your first e-mail.

I would recommend vacation in paris as my first choice. We love their apts.

I would have to agree with the vacationinparis group. We used them about 3 years ago. It was great that they were here in the US. They answered all our questions promptly, but what was really nice was having the keys BEFORE we got to Paris. The owner of our apartment actually lived in Paris so when we did have one tiny problem we were able to contact him and have our concern answered immediately. They were great to work with and I found the rates very reasonable. The picture we saw was exactly what we got.

Hi! You might give this sight a try. I've had success here myself. Good company. Reliable. Greet you at the apartment to hand over the key. You can choose areas. If I had a choice I would choose the Marais. I just like the energy there.
