Paris Apartment Question

Hello and thanks for all the valuable info regarding Paris Apartment rentals that has been offered on this site. I am travelling in May for my first trip to Paris along with a friend who has been once before. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed trying to find an apartment but I'm confident I'll find the right one. The question I have is that my friend and I have traveled in Italy together and at one of the hotels we stayed in, we had a private balcony that was lovely. I've been trying to locate something similar in a Paris apartment. Do you think this is a worthwhile endeavor? It obviously limits the number of apartments that I consider, so just wondering if having a balcony or terrace in a Paris apartment is worth the extra searching. I should say my budget is moderate, I am hoping to find a studio or 1 bedroom apartment for $200 USD or less per night. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

If you are talking about booking an apartment for May this year, you had better start weaving! I booked ours for mid May many months ago, and the calendar is almost full for the rest of the summer. The good ones are often spoken for a year in advance.

About the balcony; do you really think you will be standing on your balcony very much in May? It rains on average 171 days of the year in Paris, I'm told, and May is the rainiest month of the year. It's not usually very tropical, either.

I guess I spoke too soon. I just looked at that one that Marija posted. Wow! That one looks super, and I wouldn't care if it was raining; I'd be out on the balcony in any weather, with a view like that.

We are going in May as well but couldn't limit ourselves to balcony issues - happy to have large windows overlooking things! This group has several apts and the ones they told us about were quite reasonably priced. This one has a great balcony! Good luck!

Thanks for all of the responses. Marija, I agree the Esmeralda apartment is beautiful and one of the first requests I made but unfortunately it is not available. Nukesafe, just found out that this trip was happening, the mileage gods aligned and off we go. Kay and Michele, thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I think you all confirmed what I was thinking, bonus if I found one with a balcony or terrace, but will not limit myself. Thanks to all.

We stayed in this apt last March and loved it. I understand wanting a balcony and we loved ours. Coming home and having wine at night with the eiffel tower almost in our backyard was wonderful. You could get 2 bedrooms for just about your budget. Have fun!

Hi - we found this company had several choices, and have been recommended by other Fodor's travellers on this site. We let them know what we were looking for, and they suggested which apartments met our requirements (cut down on the searching!)

Thanks Michele. I've heard good thinkgs about VIP as well. And the searching is getting a bit much!
