Paris Apartment
Hi, do any of you helpful people here know anything about residences-paris.com.
we are looking at a studio for 11 days in late august early september and it looks really good. I have tried to paste the link below. http://www.residences-paris.com/pont...-1st-floor.php Thank you, Lissa |
It looks extremely tiny... only 20 m2... it depends what you are looking for. The location looks good though.
Good luck! |
Thanks, the location looks great, for the money we want to spend I don't think we'll get much bigger, plus would rather have the atmosphere, which looks wonderful.
If anyone can see a downside I'm missing can you please let me know. Thanks, Lissa |
Although it is a good price and a good location, the sleeping situation looks scary. You have to go up a ladder, not stairs, you will have to come down backwards, like a latter. This would not be a good idea in the middle of the night to use the restroom. There is no room around the bed to walk, no reading lamps or lights that I can see, and it will also get hot and stuffy up there.
There is a thread on Paris apartments that have so many good ones, have you seen it? Parisbestlodge has some studios priced similiarly but better layouts. |
The location is great and it comes with some nice extras, like the cell phone and laptop.
Some caveats: In late August, no A/C might be a problem. The space-it looks doable for 1 person, but 11 days for 2 people might be a problem. It looks as if the the bathroom door blocks the kitchen and that one can't stand up in the loft area. |
Just had a really close look, it is very small but the location looks terrific. Am I off base here.
It's very small, and yes there could be concerns with the lack of headroom, but if I was going for a place in a great location, in this area, isn't this right on target? Please let me know if I'm wrong. The loft is a bit high, but i think part of the experience I'm looking for. Has anyone stayed in this or one like it, what were your experiences, I've seen quite a few with this layout. Thanks again for all the help, Lissa |
Does the 200 sf of floor area include both floors? If so, I would estimate the downstairs is about 130 square feet and the upstairs about 70. While the neighborhood looks great, I really think this would be jail-cell like for 11 days. If it's 200 sf downstairs, and the loft is "extra", then maybe not so bad. By the way, on the video, it looks like you not only have to climb down the ladder, but there is no railing between the loft floor and the stairs, which means you could easily fall off.

IMO, for 85 euros a night, it's a great deal. First of all, you can't even find a hotel in that area of Paris for that price unless you stay at a fleabag hotel. Second, even if you find an acceptable hotel in that area for similar price, I bet the hotel room will be WAY SMALLER than the studio apartment.
So, if that is the budget you want to work with, I think it's a good choice, considering how little 85 euros can get you with a Paris hotel! |
Thank you everyone, we think it's great. We're booking it tonight. So excited... Lissa

As long as you're happy with it, I'm sure it will be great. We have stayed in the same general neighborhood (Rue Jacob once, Rue des Bernardins once) and loved the area. Have a good time.

If you don' mind the tight quarters and the loft bed (I've done that before in New York, never in Paris, and it was OK for the price) you should be thrilled. The location looks great! You can tell us all about it when you come back and write your trip report.

will do... So excited. 247 Days to go.

I have rented a space similiar to this, but larger. It had airconditioning but it wouldn't get cold up in the loft area, we would have to go down and sleep on the couch, it was too hot up there. They brought us a fan but it was too hot up in the loft for my liking, I personally wouldn't rent this set up again, maybe in the dead of winter, but I'm not even so sure of that. We had actual stairs and it still was tricky coming down.
