Paris Apartment
Just got back from Paris, what a wonderful experience. Go to Parisperfect.com for the most wonderful apartments to rent. We had everything we needed and more. The apartment was incredible and Madelyn and Phillipe were the most wonderful hosts and helpers!! Go and enjoy!!!!

Leslie Randall
|
So which one did you rent? What location and what size apartment?
|
Rented the Chardonnay, it was just a block away from the Eiffel Tower in the 7th Arrons. The apartment was small by US standards (750 sq ft) but very well laid out. two baths and and elevator and a beautiful view.

Are you going? An apartment is the way to go.
|
Hi Leslie,

I'm so glad to hear you had a great experience with Paris Perfect. I've rented Bordeaux for this coming March and I'm so looking forward to it! I'm glad to hear their as beautiful as they look on the website.

Patti

I was just curious having looked at those apartments on the website. Have rented an independently owned apartment on St. Germaine near Odeon, an area I favor over the 7th. Somewhat similar, airconditioned (important since we're there in August) and with an elevator, top (6th floor) I think.
$200 a night for a week stay.
Can be seen at www.sant.com

Might this post be a thinly disguised ad for Parisperfect?
|
Parisperfect is a little over priced. There are better deals.
|
I sort of suspected that leslie's original post was an ad as well, especially since she posted it twice with no more details. But I've also seen posts from her before she went when she was just looking for an apartment, so that now seems very doubtful. I found the website for Parisperfect pretty impressive, but am less enamoured of the area than the 5th or 6th, and also found the apartments pretty expensive, especially the one bedrooms ones for two people (I don't consider having a pull out sofa an extra bedroom). But I'd also appreciate any suggestions for better ones that are as nice. In looking at dozens of Paris apartment websites, frankly most of the places look pretty tacky -- often with beds pressed against one wall, or disgusting looking baths and kitchens, as well as cheap, college dorm looking furniture.

Mike, I'd also be happy to hear the other suggestions for places as nice as these but at a lesser price. I think I'm happy with my selection for next summer, but it has taken me years to actually rent an apartment in Paris because most just don't look appealing.

Patrick,

I took a look at the apartment that your linked - did you stay here in the past? Any good or bad experiences with this company? Also, was the apartment located in a quiet/safe area?
|
No, I haven't stayed there yet. Have booked for a week next end of July, first of August.
I have talked with the owner of the apartment. It is a single listing, owned and rented by the private owners who live in San Francisco.

I know the area very well, having stayed in the immediate neighborhood quite a few times. Although it faces St. Germaine (you see the view from the living room) the bedroom is on the back and is quiet (or should be) and since it is airconditioned, noise should not be a problem. I love the neighborhood, one of the main reasons for selecting this place.

In reviewing this thread I guess I never made it clear that I had also checked with Parisperfect about renting one of their apartments for end of July/early August next summer. They only had one that would be available -- the Beaujolais.
But it is 400 square feet compared to the 600 of Sant, looks considerably more "cramped", has no air conditioning, is in a less favorable location for me, and still costs $25 more a night that the one we're getting. Just thought I'd explain my decision not to rent there.
But I think one of Parisperfect's best features is that they have a number of two bedroom apartments with 2 full baths. Most 2 bedrooms I've looked at have only one bath, or such cramped quarters for the second bedroom that they'd be hated by a second couple.

I have just a couple suggestions (for Patrick) but nothing too concrete. First, I know what you mean as I have hesitated to rent vacation apts. in Paris several times because the value was not there. They were overpriced and not very attractive from my point of view. Some of those on parisperfect (which I did look at several times) don't look that great to me (I think I saw some with plastic furniture), although a few look nicer; the prices are about typical for expensive Parisian vacation apts, but that's not saying much, to me.

IN any case, here are a few firms I found that seem to have somewhat "nicer" apartments in Paris, and some with AC (although few):
www.forparis.com
www.forparis.com
www.franceforrent.com

I think the last URL appeared the best to me for looks( eg, they have a 600 sq ft apt. on Ile St-Louis for $1290/wk low season that does look very nice). They also have a 1 BR with AC in the Marais they call "luxury" for a little less than that, but it's not what I would call "luxury."

forparis.com has a few very large apts, which can be hard to find.

I have read in several places that Roth Ray (an English firm, two guys) is considered the best vacation apts in Paris for taste, service and value for discriminating clientele. They didn't even advertise or have a web site, but you'll find them referenced or by word-of-mouth. For example, in Sandra Gustafson's Great Sleeps in Paris addendum on apts., she said something like "there is Roth Ray, and then there is everybody else" in reference to ST apt rental. Anyway, now they do have a web site http://rothray.free.fr if you want to look. I did as I'd heard so much about them for years but when I saw their apts. on that web site, I was rather disappointed as they didn't look any better than most others I'd viewed, although I only looked at a few.

I did a lot of research prior to making a decision. I'll see if I can find the old posts & top them for you. The company I chose was actually based here in the US. let me look them up. I thought Parisperfect looked nice but were not in the locations I favor & were pretty pricey for what you received.
|
Now I'm a little confused. By reading the above posts it is clear that I have already rented an apartment for next summer, so I'm really not looking. Any information others offer here may be of help to others and is good, but the last two posts sound like offers to help me find something when I already have.
|
Sorry to have offended you with my info, Patrick, but this is a quote from your post: <<Mike, I'd also be happy to hear the other suggestions for places as nice as these but at a lesser price. >>

I took that to mean you are interested in what's out there because you frequently go to Paris and will be in the market again some day. If you did not in any way want any further comments, you should have said so rather than the above.
|
Sorry, Christina, you are right. I didn't compare the names to posts as I often don't, and was assuming they were new posters to this thread. I am always interested in hearing about better deals for future reference. It was just that suddenly I felt that posters thought I was still looking specifically, and directly offering me suggestions for next year. I misinterpreted, but please realize my last post was never meant to suggest that I was in any way offended.

By the way, I did browse through those two new websites (actually I was familiar with one), but I still didn't see anything that looked like as nice a place for less money as either Parisperfect or what I had found for next year. And, of course, I'm always looking for summer (high season) so those lower off season rates don't mean much to me.

No I am not advertising Parisperfect.com apartments!!! My research was exhausting before going to Paris it was my trip of a lifetime and I didnt want any bad experiences. I even researched at this site. Parisperfect and the owners were a wonderful discovery. No bad experiences for me!! 6 women shared the apartment and we had plenty of room.
Patti, the Bordeaux is the one we originally wanted to rent. It is on the most wonderful street. Rue St.Dominique!! Make sure you get your coffee at the place that grinds the coffee fresh for you. It is delicious and makes a great pot of coffee. You will be very close to Rue Cler and open market so make sure you stop in there.
Have Fun
Leslie

Has anybody rented from Parisvacationapartments.com. I was looking at them for a possible trip next fall.
|
John,
I am renting an apt. from them, the Charles Nodier 1 bdrm. for a trip at the end of January. I actually emailed several people on the comments page, one person actually lives not too far from me and she raved about the apt. and the service she received. I have to say, they are prompt with their replies, and have sent a lot of information that will be useful for our trip. I will let you know how it works out when I get back. Look for a response early in Feb.
Hi Leslie,

Thanks for the advice! The location was one of the things that sold me on these apartments. 76 days and counting!

Patti
