That location is very central, of course, being in the center of the island. That apt belongs to an agency which has its own website, I suppose you know.

To be honest, I prefer their 3 BR in the Marais as it doesn't have that funky issue of being on 3 levels, apparently, and on the top floors with no elevator. Several if not all people commented on that issue, that the stairs are tricky. The website calls that apt you picked a "triplex". It appears you stairs may even be in the hallway to go to the bedroom, not sure, the must have cobbled several apts together.

The one in the Marais doesn't have those issues, and I personally like that location better, also, I just think it is more convenient to be off the island as I think it is more convenient to metro and buses, definitely. There is one bus that goes across the east end of the island and then into the Bastille area, as I recall.

The other one is near the west end of rue Chapon and in-between 4 metro stops, all within 2-3 blocks, which gives you access to 3 different lines, 3 and 11 and 4. The other one is only easily close to Pont Marie on the right bank, on line 7.

Hi Christina; Yes I do know the special apartments site. They only accept V or MC, while I wanted to use my AX on Airbnb for the island location.

I wanted the island apartment, but when I reviewed this thread and saw the apartment suggested by Betty1, that is now being considered. It is a larger apartment, 100m vs 130m which is a plus.

I have e-mailed them to check on total cost and I must say, my wife likes the Maris better.

Betty1: Very nice e-mail back from Pietro but only three nights are available.

We needed the fourth night as we leave for Nice at 7am on the 4th of July.

He did suggest two other apartments that we will look at, but we also had others bookmarked we liked.

Betty1; It seems like Pietro thought I was talking about 2014.

But I did e-mail again and then he realized I was talking about 2015 and now I think we will book for 2015.

We rented that apartment on Ile St. Louis and loved the location. It is a bit of a hike with stairs though - I think 60 or so to the front door, then once inside the door, another 10 or so to the main living space. From there, it is another flight to the 2nd floor (inside) with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom and then another flight to the "loft" bedroom (and bath). We did like the space and the large dining table and we used the w/d daily. But if that many stairs are a problem, I certainly would not book it.

Here is one from VacationinParis.com that comes close. It is in the 3rd, still a good location, and doesn't have 2 baths, but the washroom and WC are separate. It appears to be within your price range. The company is a good one - I have had a good experience with them. They are located in New Jersey, so you can pay by credit card in $ rather than have to meet someone with a fistful of Euros when you arrive in Paris.

Hi basingstoke2; With 4 kids in their 20's we needed two bathrooms, so I was not able to consider that apartment--but thanks.

This is the apartment we will book next week after informing our CC company of the charge. But not with this company.

We will be able to take the RER from the airport and then walk perhaps 3/4 of a mile to the apartment.

The apartment has now been booked using Airbnb.

Arrival at the apartment on June 30th, 2015. Four nights.

Villa had already been booked. www.niceholidayvilla.com Seven nights.

We are on our way, thirteen months and counting.

yay, that's the one I thought looked a lot nicer. FWIW that distance is really closer to a mile, it's about 1.5 km.

iris1745 May 31st, 2014 01:16 PM

Thanks Christina; I let my wife decide and she did great.

A mile with luggage is not a problem for us. But if I break a leg playing basketball, we have four strong kids with us.

We will probably arrive in Paris around 8 or 9am.

Our luggage can be stored at their office until the apartment is ready.

Happy days.
