Paris: Any advice about Bastille Day
We will be in Paris during Bastille Day, and a couple of days before.
Has anyone else been in Paris during their Independence day, and if so....are any of the major sites closed before? ie Lourve?

Most museums, restaurants, cinemas, clubs, and the like remain open; offices and banks close. Large department stores may close; smaller stores often remain open; tiny shops may close.
There's a large military parade on the Champs-Elysées, and fireworks and celebrations at night in many locations. People get drunk and rowdy and explode cigar-sized firecrackers, which can be a safety and security hazard. I usually spend July 14 at home, because of the rowdy and huge crowds, and because it's usually extremely hot, anyway. The parade is best seen on TV.

hi there,
we were in Paris 3 years ago on bastille day. Didn't see much of the parade because our son wanted to visit napolean's tomb in the morning and we stayed longer than we planned. It was not very crowded so this might be a good time to visit a museum that is usually quite crowded. Great fireworks at night at the Eiffel tower. Have a great time, wish i was going again, tho i just returned from paris last month.
