How long is this 'extra' time? I mean if you were trying to fit in going to Greece. How many days would you have, before you have to return to Nice to catch the flight home.

sounds like they settled on France maybe between that post and OP. But yes to fly Paris-Greece-Nice is a waste of money and time.

For Paris, you should try to stay in the 6th arrondissement. And if you like the small town feel, give a look to the Luberon.

I read on some other post a similar suggestion. It is on my list to check out. I think we would all love to do a cooking class!

I'm going to check this out. Definitely convinced that Versailles is not the best idea....Someone also suggested chateaus in Loure region. Excuse my spelling.

Definitely do not want to replicate Bahamas. My daughter is in her 4th year of French. We want to meet people, eat wonderful food, chat with artists and local proprietors....see the sites (within limits) and wander....

I love when people tell me of the places they loved while on their vacation....I gather that info and google them all! I always go to the library, read tons of books, ask those I know that have been to France and go from there. I love restaurant ideas, location ideas, why people liked/did not like certain areas.

I know we will not go to the Louvre as my daughter has no interest. We will not fight the crowds at Versailles but will instead visit a chateau in the loure region. We will go to Montmartre and wander, attend mass at Notre Dame, see the Eiffel Tower both day and night...eat in many fabulous little Boulangeries (Excuse my spelling)...maybe take a cooking class, walk a ton, shop a ton (prom dress), hopefully speak with the locals so she can practice her four years of French language learning. No suggestion is a bad suggestion...I will see if it fits our needs....

I would love to know what you liked/disliked.

Thanks

We are definitely doing 4 nights in Paris and then flying from Orly airport to Nice where we will spend 5 nights. Currently trying to figure out the best area to stay in Nice. Water will not be swimmable in March so I wonder if there is a better spot to stay rather than on the water....She is 17 and likes the hustle and bustle.
