Yeah, I'd come to the USA and spend 10 days in New York. Same thing as in Paris - there's an infinite variety of things to do. I spend 3 days in NYC a lot these days and man do I feel deprived!

You will never run out of things to do during 7 days in Paris! Also, I agree with what everyone has said about Bruges, it is really an enchanting town.

I didn't say anyone would "run out of things to do" in Paris. To imply that I did is really a specious argument.

The phrase "there's an infinite variety of things to do" is unadulterated hyperbole. A truly infinite variety would include all of everything. That's the definition.

What you are suggesting is that the OP would benefit from seeing one city rather than several - and some little towns in between.

Paris = Europe and New York = U.S. are equally ridiculous equalities.

Our first trip to Europe was 3 nights in Paris, then renting a car and doing a loop, staying at farms and inns near Chartres, the Loire, Limoges, Clermont, and back up to Paris for 2 more nights. It was a fantastic trip, and we got to see the 'real' France.

Stay in Paris. You can do 2 day trips but especially if you have never walked the city stay in Paris. 7 days is not alot of time.

There is nothing in Paris that is intrinsically more "important" (or even more "interesting") than what can be found in Versailles, or Bayeux, or Dijon.

I'd stay in Paris the entire time with one day trip out of the city. I took my son for his first trip to Europe a couple of years ago and the 10 days we spent in Paris were a blur. Not even close to being enough time.

There may not be anything in Paris that is more important or more interesting than in other locations but with only 7 days on the ground and jet lag as a factor I would not spend/waste time traveling to other locations.

The only way I'd consider two locations is with multi city flights into Brussels, train to Bruges for a couple days then TGV to Paris for the rest of the trip and fly home from CDG.

The way that we move about without spending/wasting sightseeing time is by traveling in the evening when we would be relaxing in an easy chair after a long day's march anyway. No reason why that easy chair can't say <b>SNCF</b> or <b>Thalys</b> on it!

We get the last train of the day that arrives before midnight, check into our hotel, and hit the ground bright and early.
