Sorry I am not sure what an open jaw is.
Paris-Marseille return flight is between 200 and 600€ (only Air France for now, no more low cost airline)
Paris-Marseille return by TGV is between 200 and 350€.
About my previous post, I hope you catched my mistake : "you have to see the sea" ;o)

Have you checked out the airfare with Easyjet going from Paris Orly to Nice? It's very cheap. We are travelling with them in August, and we found it's even less expensive than taking the train.

Yes Easy Jet is cheaper than TGV (they used to fly to Marseille). But if u fly to Nice, then you have 2,5 hours drive to Aix.

Yep, cheapest fare is PREM even down to 30€ in 2nd class. Train tickets booking opens 2 months before exactly. PREM tickets are sold out in first week or so. Full fare in first class should be just above 100€.

I just checked the PREM price from Paris to Avignon, and it's 70 Euros, but I think that's just one way. Still, if it was 140 euros round trip, that's not bad.

benjinho,
Sorry, I didn't see your post when I gave the price of the PREM rate, but it probably differs by the date. I put in March 26 through March 28.

Prems vary all over the map. Yesterday I was checking prems to Aix - farther away than Avignon. There were 35E prems, 50E prems, 70E prems, 45E first class, 55E first class, and more, and more, and more,. Prems are offered outside the 3 month "window" for normal refundable tickets - I saw some Prems for June 2.

Whenever I hear of someone going to Avignon, I highly recommend a beautiful B&B called Chateau Talaud in Carpentras about 15 minutes outside of Avignon. The couple that own the chateau are wonderful and are a tremendous help in making your visit to Provence memorable. Staying at Chateau Talaud was the highlight of our trip to Provence last year. Check out their website www.chateautalaud.com.

Wow, Lexus, your hotel recommendation looks amazing. If only... Unfortunately, it is out of our price range. I wonder what the best accommodations would be in the 100E price range in the St. Remy area.
