Paris and Normandy

Quick question: Would you recommend staying in hotel in city of Mont-St.michel or one on the outskirts of city? and…is it a full day
visit that you think is best with sleepover?

So far we are traveling by train from Paris to Rouen to visit with stay overnight, then to Bayeux by car for 2 nights to d-day sites and Bayeux tapestry then to MSM for visit stay overnight then to Rennes to return car then back by train to Paris for 6 days. Trip is spring of

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!!!!!

Lots of different opinions on whether to say in / outside of Mont St. Michel. Here's a recent thread (you can use the search feature to find the relevant posts, which start after the first few comments):

the Bayeux tapestry is amazing -- enjoy!

On the island is a unique experience
On the lead up to the causeway is pleasant but a bit meh (a bunch of one night hotels with a fine view to the north)
