A group of 16 adults will be leaving for Paris for
10 days to participate in a family members wedding. Are there any types of homes or apartments to rent or lease during this time period or is reserving several hotel rooms our only option? Arrival Date: 1/31/98 Departure Date: 2/9/98 Budget For Hotel Room: $300.00/night/couple Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank You! |
Since you are a "group", I would advise you to get in touch directly by fax with some selected hotels and negotiate a discount. Flats for rent in Paris are rather expensive (sometimes more than hotels).
The budget you indicated should allow you to find very nice hotels. |
I agree with the idea (for the wedding party of 16)
that you should simply book hotel rooms. Certainly you can find flats for rent for that time period, but you will not find one for 16 adults if that is your main objective. Most vacation apt. rentals in Paris are suitable for up to 4 adults -- you can find some for up to 7, but these are fewer in number. So, you would probably end up having to rent about 3 apts. in various parts of town which would be less convenient than having all members at the same hotel. If you want to pursue the apts. idea, you should look for those apt/hotel type places for business travelers where they would have several apts. available in the same bldg. I think one in Paris is called "Citadines Apparthotels" and they have a WEB site at www.citadines.com. They have about 10 bldgs in Paris (and also some in rest of France/Europe). Don't expect a lot of charm, though (modern is more likely). But, you would have a kitchen and a couch area, laundry facilities, and one has a gym (one near Opera?). Prices and type/quality of rooms vary by location so you'll have to check several out (the Opera one seems nice, Blvd. Hausmann is most deluxe, Montparnasse a great location). Usually, their rates are about 1200FF per night for an apt or adjoining studios that will sleep four. For your budget, you may find something nicer that is simply called a hotel. There are a few hotels or "residence hotels" that have kitchenettes in the room, I think, which would be the only big difference. |
Another suggestion for apartment-style hotels in Paris and London is Orion. Their web site is apartmenthotels.com. While not charming, they are modern and equipped with everything you need. In Paris, they have central locations near the Louvre and Les Halles. In London, they have locations near Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square. They have one bedrooms and I believe two-bedroom units that can sleep up to six. It's a really good alternative to a standard hotel room.
