Paris and Italy ideas needed
 

Hi,
I have booked my flight to London for Dec. 26th from Sydney. I return from Paris to Sydney 22 Jan. 08.
So far I have booked a Paris apartment for a week from Sun 30th Dec, as well as an apartment in Umbria for a week on 10th Jan.
Any suggestions for sightseeing in Paris and Umbria.
Any suggestions for travel between London and Paris, Paris and Italy (umbria) and Italy back to Paris.
I have four days/nights free between Paris and Umbria and five nights free before returing to Paris for my flight home. Any ideas where I should spent my free days.

If you can change those reservations, it would make a lot more sense to stay in Paris last, since that's where you're flying home from, so you don't have to backtrack. Since you haven't mentioned it, I guess you're not interested in staying in London?

With 27 nights and your interest in Italy and Paris, I would do this:

Fly from London to Rome.
5 nights Rome
7 nights Umbria
4 nights Florence with a daytrip to Tuscany
4 nights Venice
Fly to Paris
7 nights Paris

Gard, I loved reading your report. It certainly looks like I am going to be very busy in Paris - so much to see and do.
SusanP. Yes your ideas are certainly more logical. The problem arose because I am using my Qantas FF points to travel. I booked the first section, but I had to wait a couple of weeks to book the final flight home. Originally I thought I would be able to fly from Rome, Hong Kong (stopover) to Sydney. But it was to difficult with the connecting flights, so the best option available was to fly home from Paris.
I thought I would only spend a couple of nights in London (to recover from the flight and maybe see a show). A couple of years ago I spent time in London and Rome but didn't manage to go to France or anywhere else in Italy. I was wondering about Venice. Not sure if it would take too much of my time getting there. Although I was thinking I could possibly fly Rome to Venice and then Venice back to Paris!

While you can fly Rome to Venice, my suggested itinerary was based on your current reservation for a week in Umbria, which made me think that was a priority for you. If you want 2 nights in London to start, change the itinerary I mentioned by taking 1 night each from Umbria and Florence to give you those 2 nights in London. The rest could stay the same, and Venice fits nicely. I know you can fly Venice-Paris.
