Paris and Chartres
We are going to Paris over Thansgiving and thinking of a few day trips. Chartres by train. Looks like a lot of the day tour companies are closed after Oct. 31. Anyone recommend good walking tour company in Paris. Good restaurants Boul Mich/St. Germaine that won't break the bank?

How many days will you be in Paris? Have you been before? I ask, because expericne tells me that once you get there, you will have plenty to see. So...unless Chartres (or Versailles) is one of your life long dreams...I might reconsider.
Paris Walks is very good for tours. I've taken 4/5 of them. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/pariswalking/ Plenty of restos in that area. I went to Chez Clement (6th)last trip: http://www.chezclement.com/ I'll add more in a bit... |

Just 5 days. We were there for Thanksgiving holiday 6 years ago. I had spent time in Paris during the 1970s after finishing school as an art history student. At that time I travelled south through Provence and le cote d'azur. So I am looking for a day trip to perhaps Chartres and castle? Need to do research for train trip as it appears most of the day bus touristy trips stop after the end of October.

My first trip to Paris I went to Chartres and Versailles and don't regret taking the time to do both. But - I was there for 8 days, so I had more time than the OP.
