Definitely check on opening/closing times as Michel_Paris mentioned. A friend and I were in Paris Dec 26 until the 30th in 2005, and then went up to Amsterdam for a few days. We didn't plan well, and a lot of things closed early on New Year's Eve in Amsterdam, and most everything besides the Ann Frank House was closed on New Year's Day. We took off for Berlin on January 2nd, so we missed quite a bit in Amsterdam. Lesson learned!
