Paris-Amsterdam + Is Transavia reliable?

Hi, I'll be going to Paris and flying home from Rome. I'm thinking of going to Amsterdam briefly (for a day).

Transavia flies to Rome from Rotterdam. Is this a reliable airline?

I can find fares on Alitalia from Brussels to Rome for comparable to what Transavia is asking. If so then I'd have to take the train to Brussels from Amsterdam for this. If Transavia is bad, then I don't mind doing the safer thing.

What kinds of train fares can I expect?

I see a couple of options depending on what I end up doing for my flights.

1. Buy one-way Paris-Amsterdam and one-way Amsterdam-Rotterdam.

2. Buy r/t Paris-Amsterdam (probably cheaper).

3. Buy Paris-Brussels and combine with IC Bruseels-Amsterdam (since I don't need Thalys for this part).

Any ideas what the cheapest option would look like? Right now the train portion is looking to be over 100 euros per person, probably because I'm too late. This is for early June.

I think that I'll build in a short break in Brussels also (probably 1-2 hours) depending on what's convenient. Maybe I'll stop on the way to Amsterdam (or stop on the return, if I'm flying out of Brussels). This may change the way I buy my tickets because I can't break my journey if I buy the "incorrect" train tickets.

According to Flightstats, two cancelations or so for the last two months for FCO to Rotterdam. Doesn't seem that great, I must say. Any other experiences with Transavia?

Transavia is the budget offshoot of KLM, so theoretically it should be a reliable airline. I'm not sure why it has had those two cancellations. Might it be related to strikes?

My one experience with Transavia, Madrid to Amsterdam, was fine, although we were delayed because the attendants seemed to have trouble counting the passengers properly (seriously).

If you are concerned about reliability, then why choose Alitalia over Transavia? Alitalia is not exactly reliable themselves.

Transavia is fine, in my opinion. not the best, but not the worst. I wouldn't worry overly about them.

Thanks. I didn't realize that Transavia is a budget offshoot of KLM.

I went back to Flightstats. I'm not sure where I got the two cancelations from. It doesn't seem like I can pull up the historical info for the flight I'm interested in. But for the route Rotterdam-Rome, there's one cancelation.

I checked the Alitalia flight from Brussels I'm interested in. No cancelations in two months.

I think that there're more flights on Alitalia, so I figured it could be more reliable, but the info on Transavia does make me more comfortable.

Ideally it'd be good to fly AMS-Rome, but the tickets are very expensive for this route -- maybe because of Transavia?

WillTravel (or anyone else), if you have a chance, can you comment on the various options and prices for Paris-Amsterdam (and possibly backtracking back to Brussels or Rotterdam for flight to Rome)?
