Paris airport taxi for four possible?
 

Our family of 4 (2 adults/ 2 children 10 & 12) will be flying into CDG on a Sunday morning this July. In reviewing our transportation options into Paris (7th) I had pretty much decided that (considering time and cost) taking a taxi would be our best option. However, I did read mention of possible difficulty finding a taxi that could accommodate 4 passengers plus luggage. Does anyone know about this? We may not want to take a taxi if it's likely we'll need to wait a considerable time at the stand for a large enough vehicle to become available. Thanks for any insight.

Yes - many taxis accommodate 4 (and more). You queue for cabs at CDG and the dispatcher will direct you to one that is large enough for your party..

Thanks janisj. I know that the length of time in a taxi can result in the fare being much higher than a shuttle, but I assume traffic should not be too much of an issue on a Sunday morning? We arrive at 8:45am. I'm not sure what time that will put us in a cab after picking up luggage and clearing customs.

That information is about 20 years old at this point. There are dozens and dozens of station wagon and minivan Taxis Parisiens these days. On a Sunday morning you should pretty much fly into the city.

On a Sunday morning, a taxi will cost significantly less than a shuttle, there is no need to pre pay anything, and taxis will be waiting for you curbside just out side of customs/baggage claim.

YOu never know, there can always be some construction or weird accident that can cause a traffic delay. I always take a taxi and have been on that road on Sunday morning lots, and it is usually fairly easy, but nothing is a guarantee.

I would say that the taxi fare is never "much higher than a shuttle", though, not for that many people, even on other days. So I think that info is also wrong. For example, shuttle Inter charges 65 euro for 4 people and taxi fares are not usually even that much, even with some traffic delays. Bee shuttle is a lot cheaper (because it is a group van, you are with others) and it still charges 15 euro per person for age 12+, 10 euro for children. So a taxi would be about that same rate for 4, not much higher.

On the other hand, don't expect a taxi to cost significantly less than a shuttle, either, I wouldn't go that far. Taxi rates are higher on Sunday, for one thing, so that balances out the less traffic. Taxi rates in Paris are the same on Sundays as during evening hours past 5 pm on other days.
