paris airport shuttles
 

Help! My return flight is Tue., Oct. 12--the beginning of the huge transport strike in France. I understand the flight itself will probably be ok, it's getting to CDG that worries me. My friend, and others, were stood up by Parisshuttle.com, taxis will be in very high demand, so I booked w/ SupperShuttle.com/Airport Connection. I've paid and have a ref. # and their assurance that their employees are private and not striking. DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY PLEASE??? My rented apt is in central Paris not too far fm Etoile.

I don't know this service but I would be cautiously optimistic that they will show. Double check the day before.

As a backup, as you say you are near L'etoile, can you walk to the Air France bus service if you have to? Of course, they may be on strike but you should see some info on the Air France web site on the days leading up to the strike.

I know past strikes aren't totally an indication of what will happen, but on 23 Sept. about 50% of public transport was running and buses I saw were only about 1/3 occupied as many people stayed home from work.

The better bet would be to phone G7 Taxi 01-41-27-66-99 (English speaking operator) the day before and reserve a taxi.

We were here Sept 23 and had G7 cab reserved---they called 5 min after the appt time to cancel! We took Metro that day as you said---there was only about 50% participation. I've been told this is a much bigger, more pervasive one....alas. I hope someone out there has used this company.

I've used Parishuttle many times and they have been fine. Don't know how they would be during a strike though.

I like Shuttle-Inter, but sure as I write this, someone will post that they had a bad experience with them. It happens, even with taxis, when there are no strikes.

Exactly..I don't recommend anymore. I have used them for years, with excellent service. I have my reservations with them for Nov 1 arrival and Dec. 4 departure. My friends (guests) also have reservations with them for their arrival and departure later in November and other friends arriving and departing shortly after I leave.

I wouldn't trust any transport service if several thousand dollars worth of airline tickets are at stake... I'd get a hotel at CDG and stay there the night before.

That's a good point, I might do that also, even though a nuisance (stay at CDG).

There will surely be a strike for public transport, that seems certain, although I don't see how that would affect airport shuttles or why anyone would think it could. They are obviously not public services. So it just gets down to whether you trust a particular service, in general. And I'll bet every one has had some cases they didn't show up or problems. Sometimes you just have to hope that nothing will go wrong, nothing much else you can do. I would have no reason to trust a taxi company more than a private shuttle service.

Thanks everyone......I wonder if the drivers of les cars Air France will strike. They are my Plan B. anyone?

Actually, the Air France bus increases its frequencies on strike days rather than decreasing them. I would consider them to be more reliable than a shuttle, because they have a radio link for traffic reports and modify their itinerary as necessary.
