Paris airport CDG Terminal 1 question

Last Feb when I was trying to get to the shuttle for the RER after arrival there was a horribly long line for the elevators. I thought there must be some other way on that level to get to the shuttle. The map shows only one elevator. Is this the only access to the lower levels??

We usually pick up a rental car so never had to use the shuttle but this May we will be going to Gare de L'Est again and my plan right now is to take the RER.

Can anyone tell me if I should expect the same gridlock during the morning with so many arrivals at CDG 1. Is there a quicker way than that elevator??

I'm trying to estimate what time I will get to Gare de L'Est after landing.

thanks, Deborah

Just looking at the diagram, I see only one elevator that opens right at the CDGVAL area, and also two pairs of escalators.

There is a 2nd elevator around the 'ring' from the CDGVAL, behind the fast food area.

Note: there isn't a bus to the RER anymore, it's a light-rail (CDGVAL).

OK, I only see one elevator on the Arrivals level - maybe you could take the escalators instead, or take them to the 2nd level then the other elevator - it's just more walking around the terminal.

There are elevators all around the circular building, at least 8. But of course only one is in the exact location of the CDGVAL station. There are also escalators and stairs.

thank you to both of you. So I can take an elevator or stairs to the arrival level and then take something other than that one elevator down to the shuttle for the train

Kerouac, when I look at that top arrival level on the map I only see the one elevator noted

I can't remember if when you come out of the customs/immigration door you have access to the entire circle or just those few doors around that elevator. I see the vers portes d'embarquement but it doesn't indicate elevators there.

Sorry, I must not have had enough coffee today to jump start my brain, I'm feeling a little thick headed not to see any alternatives to that single elevator ;;) Deborah

I confirm that there are 8 elevators. The airline for which I work is based at CDG1. However, I do not confirm that you will have access to all 8 elevators on the arrival level. And it is true that not all of them serve all levels, which is probably the reason that you only see one possibility.

allright, kerouac, what will it take as a bribe for "insider" information to get me easy access to that RER level without using that swamped central elevator ;;) Deborah
