Paris Airbnb location
 

Good Morning!
My sister-in-law and I are headed to Paris in June (just decided to go in the last few days), and lodging is a bit tight during this busy season.

I booked an Airbnb in the 16th (Rue Dufrenoy), but I am map challenged and I just wanted to get some idea of how far we are from the center. On the map, it looks further than I first thought when I read the booking description (of course)..

Any input is welcome.

It isn't very far -- though depending on which end of the street it could be a bit of a walk to the nearest Metro station. It is close to the Bois de Bologns and the wonderful Marmottan. Is it a legal rental? Is there a registration number?

You can easily use Google street navigation and maps to figure out distances and locations. But yes, is it a legal AirBnb?

A map shows you the distance exactly, it tells you how many meters (any map has a scale but even online Google maps shows you that under Directions), you don't have to guess. Besides, you can tell it's on the very edge of Paris and so it has to be quite a ways from the center.

But that street is roughly 6 km from the center of Paris. Rue de la Pompe appears to be the closest metro stop.

Yes. It is a legal Airbnb.

It is less than 1/4 mile from the nearest metro. From there, you are in central Paris in 4 or 5 minutes.

It would be different living in Paris, but for me as a tourist with a limited amount of time, a 1/4 mile walk and having to use metro every time I wanted to go anywhere would get really old really fast. I'd even shorten my trip by a couple days if I had to, to be able to afford a more central location.

I would not shorten my trip at all.. quel horror.. lol

If staying for only 3-4 days then yes its nice to be very central.. but if there a week or more.. dont sweat being out a bit.. the metro is fast and efficent.

A quarter mile is nothing. I would absolutely not worry about that at all.

Thank goodness for the metro, because it is just about the last area in Paris where I would personally choose to stay (if I did not already live here).

thursdaysd--I agree. I just figured since the op did not mention anything about that that they were ok.

In reality - if .25 mile is a problem (which it certainly might be), then one wouldn't be using the Metro much anyway. If someone is mobility challenged, they'd use buses and taxis.

So -- IF you are a walker and 400 yards isn't a hardship -- this would be a fine area to stay. IF you do have mobility problems, then you'd probably want to be closer in.

Don't overlook the #63 bus. It's a very pleasant scenic ride to its endpoint at the Gare de Lyon.
