Paris Accomodation, Which District

Hi there,

This will be mine and my Partners' second time to Paris; the first was in Winter and it was 6 years ago. (Current ages24/25) This trip will be in late May.

We will be arriving vis train from Rennes which arrives at Gare Montparnasse sometime in the afternoon. We will be in Paris 2/3 nights.

Things we will be doing in Paris (Dont judge us)
Disneyland
Eiffel Tower
Eating out.
(I know not a lot, but we have been before)

We will be leaving Paris on the 3/4th night on the Thello Train to Venice which departs from gare de lyon.

Our budget for accomodation is losely around AUD160 a night. (but again a bit flexible because I want something nice and preferably have breakfast.

Where would be the best area for us to stay in? Any hotel Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can check costs on this site. booking.com/paris

Put in your dates. You should find on the left a box to check your budget limits.

Your budget leaves very little options, even at the current exchange rate with the weak Euro. You're looking a someplace for less then €90/night.

Try Hotel Cosmo in the 11th. I've not stayed there but others this board have and they give it good marks; I have it bookmarked in case I need a cheap Paris hotel at some point. Great location.

Oops, I now see you said you're willing to go up on price for something "nice." Cosmo is pretty basic though well-regarded, I think.

First don't worry about being close to train stations.. easy and fast to get to from where ever you stay.

The only hotel I have personally stayed at.. that may be close to your budget is Hotel Pierre near the Sorbonne( student district)..
Excellent location.
Clean hotel.
Cheap for area.
Rooms are TINY.

If you can get a room there , and can deal with size , you will be well located to walk to many sites, metro lines , etc.

There are a few hotels with similar names( no doubt with a name like that ) but you want the one on Rue Des Ecoles du Medicine.

On our last visit about 2 years ago we stayed at this place :
Hôtel du Haut Marais
7 rue des Vertus
75003 Paris
and depending on your dates and type of accommodations you choose, it may be within your budget. A very small well-run little place with a lovely breakfast and clean rooms in a "hip" area.

I have stayed at the Hotel Pierre as well and while it's true that the rooms are smell, service was friendly and the location is great.

Isn't AUD 160 closer to 112€? Gives you a few more euros to work with.

I think there are some decent low-cost hotels around gare de lyon, as you're departing from there it's as good a location as any. Given you ages, you'd like the Marais, Canal St Martin area and anywhere around the Sorbonne.

How much time at Disney? If more than a day, compare prices around the park. However, I would prefer to stay in Paris and go out there for the day. I would guess one day would do it.

LOL I think indyhiker meant SMALL .. not smell.. The rooms don't smell but they are small..

I'd suggest the Bastille area in the 11th arrondisement. It's cheaper than some areas on the Left Bank close to the Seine, but would be convenient for leaving by Gare de Lyon, and lots of young people there.

Thank you all for your replies,

I have taken all your recommendations on board and have looked into the Cosmo's Hotel and also booked (with free cancellation) Hôtel Les Maisons de Lea just as a back up is Comso's isn't available.
