Paris 7th Arr Restaurants

My husband and I will be in Paris Sept 13-16th. We are staying at Latour Maubourg at 150 rue de Grenelle. Can anyone suggest restaurants in the immediate neighborhood for our dinner. We prefer walking to dinner if possible.
Thank you.

There are several threads of this if you can search. My list is Le Florimond, 19 av. Lamotte-Picquet, La Fontaine de Mars, corner of rue Exposition and Ste. Dominique, Bistrot du 7eme, 59 av. Latour-Mauborg (THE bargain for good food),Le Clos des Gourmets, 18 av. Rapp, La Terrasse, Metro Ecole Miliataire (a very nice brasserie), Le Petit Trocquet, rue Exposition, Auberge de Champ de Mars, rue Exposition (cheap and OK), Les Olivades, 41 av. Segur. We did not like Thomieux on Ste. Dominique although others recommend it.

All the aboven adress are good, focasual restaurants.
If you are looking for adress for a special event try :
-la cantine des gourmets, avenue de la
bourdonnais, very good and not so expensive,
-and for a dream, l'Arpège(Alain Passard chief), certainly one of the
best restaurants in France(at least in the top 5) but very expensive. He has a
lunch menu at 55 $ very good, but for dinner it's not less than 100 $ per personn but for an unique experience...
La Fontaine de mars in the above adress is certainly the best in "french atmosphere" and cuisine de "bistrot"...
Erik.

I think Le Violon d'Ingres is also in the 7th, a wonderful dining experience.
Book well in advance.

You have rec'd some great suggestions. If you want to read more, perhaps search for "Rue Cler" which may bring up some additional info about the 7th.

Just a tiny warning:

We had trouble finding an open restaurant in the Rue Cler area on a Sunday evening. I'm sure there are some, but it might be a good idea to plan ahead.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I really appreciate all the names and addresses. I'll be sure to take this list with me to Paris.

Fontaine de Mars is open Sunday--be sure to make reservations however--maybe for either Saturday or Sunday. La Terrasse is also open Sundays. Actually all of the restaurants I mentioned warrant a reservation at least the day of or the day before. We often just stroll by and make them.

regarding Le Violon d'Ingres--I found this in my Paris file:

I have been twice, and was even more thrilled the second time. As far as I can tell, it?s perfect. Advance reservations essential. This is a place to dress a bit, people come in formal business attire. Closed Sun and Mon. Purely French food, with astounding modern twists and variations. Guinea hen with turnips, a lentil soup that seems to be made only of air and essence of lentil, lamb, venison. Non-intimidating cheese offerings. In general the service was friendly, helpful, and yet with some formality. The chef Christian Constant started as a pastry chef, so I can assure you that the desserts were both unusual and sublime. Wine available by the glass. Crowd a mixture of Americans and Parisians, most arrivals were after 8pm.
135 rue St-Dominique,7th. phone 01 45 44 15 05,

Diane - My husband and I just returned from Paris and we stayed at the Hotel Latour-Maubourg. You will love it. Maria Orsenne is very nice and accommodating. We had a great meal at Le Florimond (definitely try the stuffed cabbage). Maria also recommended a restaurant called "R" which was very good and offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower. Maria made reservations for us at both places. Have a great time!
