Can someone recommend a few hotels in the 5/6 arrondissement under $200. Thanks

Do you mean other than the hundred or so which have been discussed and described endlessly here?
We could all spend hours again describing our favorites, or you could spend maybe 15 minutes doing a search here and then ask specifics about some that really sound nice to you.

I know that will sound rude to some, but there really is a wealth of that information already posted, and since we don't know what features are most important to you, it really does make sense to do just a little reading first.
For starters, air conditioning? number of people?

My suggestions, Parc St. Severin and Le Regent. What do you think of those?

If you need to know how to do a search, find the blank for search on the Europe page, type in Paris Hotels in the 6th (or 5th) and enter search.
You might also want to go to the hotels section of the Fodors website to get some good starting points.

Here's a simple additional trick I found last year on business in Italy.

When you google, google in the country you're trying to explore. In this case, it's www.google.fr

Don't worry about the french as 99% of your hotel searches will have an English (usually union jack) box to translate for you. One would be surprised about getting the 2x+ number of valid hits.

Thanks for all your advice. I did do a lot of research. Though I did not realize I could do a search like that on Fodors. I found it all so confusing, they all start to sound the same... small,smaller and smallest! Unless you are willing to spend $250 a night or more which I am not. For my lenght of stay 10 days France, 6 in Paris I've rented an apartment in St. Germain. Also, think I can save money on food this way - well at least morning coffee and breakfast!I am meeting up with my 16 yr. old daughter who is a high school exchange student living outside of Dijon. This sounds like a great area sure we'll have a great time. Yep, I know I have to be careful doing this as well. Thanks for all your advice, I've found this site very helpful. Reading some of the posts I realized that apartment owners advertise on different sites and some are through brokers I almost booked this apartment thru NYHabitat, I found the same rental on VRBO and saved $200. Also a great book I found doing research at Borders is ACCESS PARIS - highly recommend it. Again,Thanks Erica
