Paris 6 nights honeymoon in December
Hi All,
I am planning my honeymoon trip to Paris from 1st-7th Dec'12.
Should I look at exploring Nice as an option for 3 days or just stay in paris and explore it.
I hope the Paris has lot to offer. Looking forward for your comments.

You will love Paris and be happy that you have 6 days to enjoy it. Nice is OK in milder weather but Paris is great in fall and winter as there is so much to do inside if it should be chilly and rainy.

I would bag the HoHo bus tour. Just pick out what yuo want to see and go and do it. the Seine cruise will give you a bit of an overivew - as will the view from theET.
Strongly suggest yuo avoid the Lido.MoulinRouge. These are tourist traps - very old-fashioned Vegas style shows with lots of parading by near and naked women - but not much to recommend them.
I think you need to do some more researching on the city and what you want to see and do. I could give you a list of dozends of must-dos - but they might not be yours.
At a minimum you should see:
Notre Dame
Saine Chapelle
Musee d'Orsay
Musee de Cluny
Rodin Musuem
Arc de Triomphe
Monmartre
and a host of other major sights

@nytraveler: I would like to do different things on different days. Apart from musuems, any major attractions?
The reason why I added lido/moulin rouge show was that it will add different element in the itenary. I do not want to visit musuems everyday.
any suggestions, would be really great!

Outdoors things aren't going to be major attractions in early December, of course.
I think you would benefit from at least looking briefly at a guidebook so you know what kind of things there are in Paris, any guidebook will list some of the major attractions they think of appeal to a typical tourist. YOu can even find that online for free (like on this website). There are museums, churches, and neighborhood areas I guess to summarize, and open air markets. Gardens not so exciting in December or parks. For example, you can go up the hill to Montmartre area and see Sacre Coeur and the surrounding streets, a lot of tourists like that. There are good views of the city up there, also (but could be cloudy).

Well - I gave you churches, museums and one neighborhood. There are other areas worthy of just wandering - IF you get good weather. IMHO a trip to Versailles is worthwhile - even if not the outdoors. But - you need to plan outdoor things for days with more pleasant weather. (They won't be much fun if it's 35 and raining.)

I wouldn't set up a list of "must dos" but rather options so you can play things by ear. On another thread someone mentioned the "passages" (enclosed shopping arcades, often with small, quirky shops) as an option for a rainy day:

Or I happen to like the basement at the BHV department store, which is full of hardware, but interestingly different (being French) - you could pick up things like house number plaques and other signs as relatively cheap souvenirs. The rest of the store can be quite interesting as well.

Stay in Paris! You could visit Reims, as a day trip. Champagne tasting and the Cathedral would be fun for me.
The covered passageways are an option for not being outside. The big 3 department stores are options...even if you just visit the food halls or the Champagne bar at Galleries Lafayette.
I would sit in cafes and people watch? Maybe Le Ciel de Paris for drinks and the great view (Montparnasse tower). O Chateau for a wine tasting.
We enjoyed having some Berthillon ice cream at the park behind Notre Dame in December....you don't need to stay inside.

What are your interests?
Several of the Christmas markets should open by then.
I hardly go to museums anymore. I just like wandering around and eating I do spend a lot of time outdoors even in winter.

Festival of Lights in Lyon
I love Paris and could never get tired of being there. Still, traveling on your dates, you've got an opportunity to see an amazing spectacle that's just 2 hours away by train.
The Festival of Lights (Fête des Lumières) in Lyon is a 4-day event when the streets of the city are turned over to the people in the evening and dozens of sound and light shows take place all over the town. The ambiance is incredible -- everyone is out and enjoying themselves, and the sights and sounds are fantastic. The festival begins this year on Dec 6, so you can easily go for 1 night, then take the TGV train directly to CDG airport for your return flight. The festival is extremely popular, and you would definitely need to make hotel reservations well in advance.
Web site for the festival is http://www.fetedeslumieres.lyon.fr/EN_1 . (I also put together a little video of a trip I made there 2 years ago, at https://vimeo.com/17805567 .)

<Apart from musuems, any major attractions?>
Surely there is a reason you chose Paris. I suggest doing some research, reading guide books, reading the many trip reports on this and other forums.
I am always surprised when people planning a first trip to a major city like Paris have not done their homework and do not have even a basic plan.
We all enjoy different things when we travel. Depending on total strangers, no matter how well traveled and helpful, to create a list of must do's for you IMO is not the best way to create a honeymoon that will reflect what you enjoy.
Do some work and then come back with specific questions.
