My husband and I will be in Paris 11 - 15 August 2008. We need to plan a "to do list" and would appreciate getting info on "what definately should be seen and/or done". Also looking for accommodation approx 80 Euro's. We are in our 50's.Thanks

Try the Accor chain for hotels in your price range. Ibis, in particular, has some decent deals during the month of August.

Without knowing whether this is your first trip or your 10th to Paris, and what you normally like to do when visiting a city, hard to make "must see" recommendations. A little more info from you would help formulate better responses.

A good place to start would be the destination guide at this site. And looking/buying at a couple of guidebooks might also help.

Any list would be subjective...what I enjoy would not necessarily match your. Do you like Museums? If not, that would change your days a lot. Maybe you love Monet, so a day trip to Giverny would be a good idea.

Do you enjoy leasurely strolls with plenty of cafe stops, or do you want to fiil your days? Bus tours or walking? Wandering or tours? Shopping or not?

I might avoid the Champs Elysee and Moulin Rouge, these may be your dream destinations...

I'd also look around here a bit. There are a fair number of threads with itineraries that could help.

Maybe give us a few sites you think are "must sees" and some interests, and we can blend in some good suggestions.

Don't miss: Notre Dame Church, Tour Eiffel, Madeleine, Montmartre- try at sun set you can seat at the Sacre Couer scalators, and enjoy the most beautiful view from Paris. Do not miss the Bateau Mouche also at sunset, leaves from Pont Alma (try the map),Louvre(wonderful Museum), Musee D'Orsay. Saint Germain des Pres where there are a lot of cafes and small restaurants - try Rue de l'Harpe. Ahhh Paris a lovely city. Hope I could help you. Enjoy your trip. I am going to Paris in June. Booked at the Kensington Hotel next to the Champ D Mars/Eiffel. Was 60 euro for a single room. Will be first time staying there. I always stay in the 7th near Invalides. Love this area because all you need to do is walk across the Alexander Bridge to right bank and you are midway between Arc and Louvre. Left bank close to St. Germain and best of all very close to Rue Cler (market street).

You might also try venere.com for your dates for hotels. They give price options, so you can eliminate things.

I don't think you can find it at that price, but depending on your preferences, you might want air conditioning, or at least the promise of a good fan.

For hotels look up Hotel College du france (in the 5th near St. Michael)or Prince Albert Louvre they may be in your price range and in decent neighborhoods.
