Paris 1-day plan or take 2?
 

Will be in Paris on business for a couple days and have two totally free days (Friday and Sunday). Would like to plan on doing a couple "new" things, and am requesting assistance in determining how much time to allow.

Want to spend time at Canal St-Martin and also Pere Lachaise.

I have "noted" Marche d'Aligre and Viaduc des Arts in conjunction with Pere Lachaise.

Is this easily done in one day, or should I spread it out to two?

We are in our 50's, I'm the one feeling anxious because I don't have a definite game plan, my husband is unconcerned, as long as he gets cafe time, D'Orsay, and soaks in the atmosphere, life is good.

Did Lachaise in 1/2 day think u will be fine with 1 day

I'm with your husband. Play it by ear. Have a list of things you'd like to do, start doing the ones you feel like at the time, have fun, and if you don't do everything you have on the list there is no test on it in the morning.

I'd be fine with doing that in one day.

Then on Sunday I'd have brunch at the Jacquemart-André, among other things.

Walking the length of the Canal St. Martin takes about 2 hours at a leisurely pace, depending on your chosen walking speed and how far you go (you can stop at the north end at the Bassin de la Villette or you can go up to La Villette).

Père Lachaise takes an hour or somewhat less, depending on how many graves you want to see and how interesting you find it. It's huge, but most people only look at a few graves and tombs for a while and then they're done.

The Viaduc des Arts requires an hour or less. Walking the Promenade Plantée takes about 90 minutes to two hours at a leisurely pace (it's about three miles of walking).

You can see the Marché d'Aligre (which in many respects is like many other open markets in Paris) in an hour or less, also, depending on how much you like to shop and whether or not you buy anything.

I've never had a game plan when visiting Paris, and that never caused me a problem. Just walking around in the city is fun. But it depends on your peronality.
