Asterix is a character from a French comic. Parc Asterix is an amusement park, like Disney World. I've never been, so I don't know how it compares in size and quality of rides to other parks, or what else they offer, but it's an amusement park with rollercoasters and other rides, and probably some shows and exhibits.
