Parc Asterix vs EuroDisney ?

My two daughters (15 and 11 in age) think that the number ONE sight in all of Paris that they must see is EuroDisney !! My wife and I are fighting a losing battle on this one but we are trying to see if a compromise solution could be a visit to Parc Asterix. Our thinking was that at least PA would be more French in its aspect. Would love to hear views from people who have visited both........

Euro Disney?????

No such thing; perhaps you mean Disneyland Paris.

I haven't been to the parc Asterix but it is sure more french! ;-)

Why do you think seeing something that is "much more French" is going to be as good (for the kids) or as satisfying?

Is this about your own sensibility? I suppose you won't let them have a Big Mac" in Paris, either, because that isn't French enough?

OK, so you went to France and one of the things you did was take the kids to the French version of Disney and they loved it...what, in your mind, is so bad about that? They are not "adults" yet..accept it.

I've been to both and my kids enjoyed both. Your daughters are right, I think Disneyland Paris is superior. It has the day and night Parades, the train, the Mississipi like boat and photo opportunities that Asterix doesn't have to offer. On the other hand, if you like strong emotions, Asterix has a roller coster with 5 loops in sequence that catched my eye (I didn't try myself).
If you can, try one day at each locations, otherwise choose Disneyland.
If you plan a visit to Disneyland, make sure you return only after the electric Parade (10 pm or so), it was the highlight of our visit.
There is another tematic park in France that is my favourite so far (I've been in a couple of them), but is quite far from Paris, it is Futuroscope in Poitiers.

Hi mayo,

>My wife and I are fighting a losing battle on this one ....<

May I suggest that you retire from the field in good order and negotiate a treaty: One day in Disneyland, but you must ....?

((I))

Lobo - thanks for the great advice ! That's exactly what I was looking for. Since we can only spend one day, Disneyland Paris is it.

Intrepid - your point is well taken. However this is not some anti-American thing. We live in India and all of us love McDonald's. Also our kids will definitely get to go to Disney in the US when we visit there. We just thought that since we were visiting France, Parc Asterix might be a more unique experience......

Ira - a brilliant strategy ! One that we will definitely adopt.

Thanks to you all.

Since you're going to Disneyland in the US, I can recommend Parc Asterix without hesitation.

Best wishes,

Rex
