Paradores You Love
Looking for tips on "must stay" paradores in Spain, all areas. We'll be there Jan-Feb 2006. Anyone?

Oh, Leon! That one was absolutley incredible. It was so gorgeous, I could hardly sleep--didn't want to miss a second of that experience. I felt like I went back in time. Then, going forward in time--the Parador in Segovia--modern, gorgeous, with a fabulous view of the city (request city view). Avila was also noteworthy because it was built right by the ancient wall and the garden was so magical (don't know if it will be so in Jan-Feb--we were there last May.)
I'm looking forward to others' responses 'cause I'm planning another trip to Spain and hope to stay in Paradores once again. |
We stayed at Carmosa outside of Seville last Christmas eve and it was magical.

Hi,
I definitively agree with Artlover about the Parador in Leon. It's awesome. I remember sometimes just standing outside and staring at its massive facade. They consider the Parador in Santiago the "crown jewel". Although very historic as well and located in front of the Cathedral, I was not that impressed with the room and even their restaurant. When I went back to santiago earlier this year I opted to stay elsewhere. IMO, not worth the money. My other favorite is the parador of Cangas de Onis, in Picos de Europa region. However, I stayed there in the summer. Don't know how it would be in the winter since I assume some of the activities that characterize the area are not done during the winter months. |
This must be one of the most beloved, and highly favored recurring questions about Spain.
