Parador in Spain
 

Can anyone tell me about the Paradors in Spain. Does anyone have a web site for any of them?

We stayed at the paradors in Cadiz and Ronda and really liked them! They are very nice hotels usually either in cool locations or historic buildings and have excellent restaurants.

It has been many years ago but we stayed at a georgeous Parador in Toledo overlooking the town with a spectacular view.

The Parador in Jaen and Trujillo were both really nice - VERY old, historic buildings, large rooms, fantastic breakfasts, etc. They were very reassonably priced.

Another vote for the parador in Ronda here. Very nice, spectacular views, situated on the edge of a huge gorge. See it in the upper left hand corner of this picture: http://www.andalucia.com/ronda/home.htm

Has anyone stayed in the Parador in Carmona? If so, I'd appreciate your input. Thanks.

Parador de Carmona installed within the walls of ancient Alcazar del Rey D. Pedro is a wonderful hotel, quite famous in Sevilla area because its views, halls, food and situation, not overpriced and reasonably close to Seville as well. I think it is a fairly good bet if you do not need to stay in a big city. Carmona is also a charming town to discover.

We're staying at the parador in Ubeda in about 10 days. Email me & I'll send you a review when we get back. We also had reservations for the parador in Cardona but cancelled them after not finding favorable information it or the city. Good Luck!

Hi, just back from a great stay at a Parador - but just a tip, reserve your room *directly* with the Parador you'd like to stay in. <BR> <BR>Both their central reservations office in Madrid, and their national represenatives' agencies (Keytel in the UK), aren't very efficient! <BR> <BR>The agency gave us our 4th choice, which we weren't interested in - and Madrid central reservations didn't fax us the confirmation they said they did (& wouldn't fax a duplicate) . . . <BR> <BR>Thank goodness I emailed our first choice directly ([email protected]). Upon arrival, the desk clerk took special glee in telling us that our reservation had been canceled (& didn't even say "I'm sorry to tell you that...."), then I pulled out our email confirmation. Crossed wires with Madrid!! <BR> <BR>It goes without saying that we had a totally blissful 3 nights, once we were there - the hassle is worth it.

Last summer we stayed in paradors in Avila, Oropesa, Caceres, Zafra, Benicarlo, Tortosa and Cardona. We liked them all, and staying there was a highlight of our month-long trip around Spain. If we went back, we would definitely stay in more paradors. I particularly liked the castles in Tortosa and Cardona, and we just loved Oropesa, which has a castle next door and a beautiful pool area. The parador in Benicarlo was modern, but with lovely grounds right on the Mediterranean. These hotels are very reasonably priced for what you get. There are coupons for people staying 5 nights at one or any combination of paradors, saving you some money. Not all paradors participate in this savings program, however, so check it out.
