Papal Audience Photos

I have done a search on this forum and can find no previous informations reported on this topic, so I thought I would share what we discovered during our Rome visit at the end of May.

We had attended the Papal audience on May 29th, 2002. In the afternoon, after the audience, we were in search of film for our camera. Stopped at a shop that displayed lots of Kodak signs out front. This shop is located at Borgo Pio, 106, Rome (a couple blocks east of the Vatican).

While outside this shop, we saw over a hundred photos from that day's Papal audience, on display. There were general audience photos and close up photos as the Pope passed through the audience. Each were numbered. Display photos were small. Ask for a magnifing glass to do a search.

After much searching, my daughter found about six photos that included the pope and us! We ordered four 20 x 30 centimeter photos for 16 euro. They are available the following week. We were able to pick ours up, but they will also ship to your home address. I don't know how much shipping costs.

We don't think the photos are displayed for very long, as we went back on Monday and they were nolonger there. We are very happy we found this shop because none of our personal photos of the Pope turned out (heads and hats got in the way).

Terry

Thanks Matt. We were so excited to discover these photos! I believe they were taken by the official Vatican photographers and their quality is excellent. Hope this information will be helpful to others also.

Has anyone else taken advantage of getting their photo op during an audience with the Pope?
