Panforte Craving !! Help !
 

Last Christmas I searched for panforte high and low. I found lots of panettone, but no panforte. This year, I decided I would start my search early. Websites I have found don't have it available. Local stores didn't carry it last year and I assume won't this year. I am in Washington State, so if anyone knows a place in the Seattle area that sells it, we are in the area often. Best case? Finding it locally or ordering it on line. Worst case? Not finding it at all or actually having to make it (from some posts, it sounds like it's just not the same).

This Web site lists three varieties of panforte by Corsini. I can testify from personal experience that their traditional panforte is excellent. All three are out of stock, but maybe they haven't received this year's shipment yet. I know my local Italian grocer had not received his shipment either as of last Thursday.

The Pasta Shop in Oakland (CA) has it. You could call them at 510-547-4005, which would be the quickest way to order it, I think. They also carry tons of Italian cheeses, in case you are craving any of them.

The chocolate panforte recipe from Martha Stewart Living (just do a search for it on the websites homepage)is divine, and easy to make. My experience was that it was better when it was a few days old, so the flavors had time to meld. Whey not give it a try? (It's cheaper to make your own, too!)

I have seen it at Whole Foods but my daughter makes it for my MIL. So yummy fresh. No chocolate though. It is easy to make just has lots of ingredients.

Last year, my local "World Market" by Cost Plus carried two or three brands. There's one in Seattle, try calling them.

Panforte is simple to make and it tastes like the real thing! It satisfies my cravings when I NEED panforte. You can find a recipe just by googling.

Thanks for all of the help. I "Googled" The Pasta Shop and found Market Hall Foods. The panforte is on its way ! I will check out the Seattle tip however, as I have been in that store before. I knew someone out there would know the answer to my question. Thanks a lot.
