Palm Sunday Processions Sevilla
 

Does anyone know how to find out about event schedules for Palm Sunday in Sevilla? It is our last day in Sevilla before going north to Madrid and I need to figure out what time to book ave tickets. We want to to as much as we can before leaving, but still have time to get to Madrid before too late at night. Thanks!

If it does not rain, Palm Sunday in Sevilla´s Holy Week is spectacular. It has the highest number of processions (9) but they do their way not at the same time. They start by 3:PM and end up by 2 AM late at night. When in Sevilla, you can plan your day depending on where you stay and how long you want to be in Sevilla before leaving. I think taking Ave at 8:00 or 9:00 PM would be nice if you want to see some processions. But I would recommend you to book your tickets a bit in advance or you could experience an unpleasant surprise since a lot of people move during Holy Week in Spain.

I don't know for sure, but I thought the Semana Santa festival began in the morning only on Palm Sunday. I would find out, and go as late as possible in the day with reservations, of course. Judy

Gaelen,<BR><BR>Paste this on your browser, it has lots of info about Seville and a link to the schedule of processions in Spanish, but if you click on "Horario Domingo" that´s Sundays schedule with the main streets each procession goes by at a certain hour. It´s immportant to know that those times mean when the beginning of the procession -the Cruz de Gu&iacute;a or guiding cross - goes by, so depending on how long the particular procession is, it can be anywhere from 1 to 2 hours till the main floats go by. There are lots of penitents in each parade, and the make many resting stops.<BR><BR>On Sunday the Borriquita is one of the most beautiful, but also very popular and supercrowded. I much prefer La Paz, that goes by the Park around 2pm, where there is plenty of space to see it.<BR><BR>Your hotel can provide a program for you once you are in Seville. And pray for it not to rain!
