Palermo, Sicily - Day trip to Trapani/Erice - share private driver?

We are arriving in Palermo around 3 May 2023 and looking to share a private driver (van) with 2-4 other people for a day trip from Palermo to Trapani/Erice with a couple of stops along the way, returning to Palermo in the evening. Viator has a trip like this, but it is 7 hours in total (very rushed, I think) and is quite expensive. The date could be either 5 or 6 May, preferably 5th. If this works out with anyone's plans, we can explore the idea further as to which stops we want to make.

If you don't want to visit Segesta en route, you may take the train or one of the frequent public buses.

Do not skip Segesta!

Hi there. Thanks. Perhaps it's the time of year, but when I checked rome2rio recently, it said there was one bus daily to Trapani. From there apparently there's a cable car or something to Erice, but I prefer the flexibility of a private car. It's a long way off and maybe something will eventuate. The folks at You, Me and Sicily didn't have much to suggest. We'd like to include Segesta if we can.

The bus from Palermo to Trapani runs every 30 to 60 minutes.

Hi Neckervd, thanks for this. After the recent replies, I also checked out Flix Bus and there do seem to be a number of buses Palermo-Trapani. Segesta seems to be close to Palermo so we can do that easily I guess. There are a couple of spots en route to Trapani that we might have to miss if we don't organise a private driver. Plenty of time. Cheers.

The bus and train system in Sicily is pretty good and reliable. We did 13 nights about a month back, Palermo-Agrigento-Ortygia-Catania, with day trips to Monreale and Noto and managed without any difficulty. Of course there are several smaller places hard to access by bus, but we were happy with what we could see and do.

Segesta is 50 miles west of Palermo.
