Palermo Hotels?
Has anyone stayed at any of these Palermo hotels? If so, feedback? If not, any other recommendations in the 80-150 Euro range?

B&B Ai Cartari-Looks charming, is it?
Hotel Letizia-1*
Hotel Del Centro-2**
Massimo Plaza Hotel-3***
Hotel Principe di Villafranca-4****
Grand Hotel et des Palmes-4****
(The last two are a little out of my price range, but maybe they are worth it?)

Thanks!

Read my review of the Hotel Massimo Plaza on this website (in the hotels review section).

GAC- Thanks, it sound like you liked it. Did you book it direct or through an agent or online service? What type of rate did you get?

Anyone else??
|
I booked the Massimo Plaza direct. You might also check out the hotel Joli, which is nearby and considerably less expensive.
|
Thanks. I'm not a big fan of the Joli hotels. I'm really looking for places with a bit of character and charm.
|
Kristina,

You're mixing up the JOLI hotel in Palermo with the JOLLY chain (easy to confuse the 2).

The Joli is an independent property and looks quite charming. Here's their web site:
www.hoteljoli.com

Hope this helps,
Andre

By the way, I'm not a fan of the location of the Jolly Hotel in Palermo, quite apart from its "Holiday Inn" aspects. The Massimo Plaza, by contrast, has a great location. The Hotel Joli and the Grand Hotel des Palmes are also very well situated.
|
You are right! I was confusing the Jolly and the Joli. The Joli website looks good, though I can't get the English version to work!
|
e-mail them (Hotel Joli) in English. They responded to me immediately (in Italian). Double room is 98 Euros for two, breakfast included. You can walk to the Port and to the Airport Bus stop.

I stayed at Hotel Joli in June 2002 and thought it was quite nice for the reasonable rate (88 Euro B&B). It's well-located on a small square with restaurants and stores nearby.

We had a regular room which was on the small side but nicely decorated, very clean and with a modern tiled bathroom. They also have more expensive junior suites which are bigger.

It was very hot when we were there so we used the air conditioning at night (in-room unit that worked great and you can adjust it with the remote control) which blocked out street noise. But if you'll be keeping the windows open, you may want to request a room in the back as the area can be noisy until late.
Thanks everyone.

Anyone else stay at the other hotels??
|
I stayed in Principe di Villafranca for a few nights in November. The hotel is fine. I especially liked the location in a very quiet neighborhood. It was away from the noise and crowds, yet just a very short walk to the center. The price was a bit high, but I had a discount on the rate.
