palazzo del capitano parking

For anyone who has stayed at Palazzo del Capitano in Tuscany-Is the public parking outside of the walls far enough away that it would make sense to pay to park at the hotel? We are only there two nights and do plan on visting some other towns in the area.

Thank you!

I would always go ahead and pay to park at the hotel if I were planning to drive to visit other places during my stay. For two days it can't break the bank. Good luck.

If you are talking about Palazzo del Capitano in San Quirico d'Orcia you should know that while there is plenty of public parking it is at the bottom of the hill and you would have a steep climb every time you return from an outing. After a week of doing this we were ready to move on to our next accommodations. Only cars with special permits are allowed in the village. If their parking is within the village walls I'd probably pay for it. We stayed in a village house last fall and enjoyed the village at night. There is also a small internet cafe on the main street of the village. Take a side trip to Bagno Vignoli and soak your tired feet in the warm waters. Although we were not in BV at mealtime I understand there are a couple of nice restaurants to have a relaxing lunch. There was also a women's shop with beautiful hand made ladies clothing---expensive but really lovely.

The hamlet with the springs is
Bagno Vignoni.

There was a recent post from someone who tried to park in the hotel's parking lot, and decided against it after they parked there for 1 day.

The public parking is no more than 200 meters to the hotel and was not a bad walk at all. I would want the freedom to come and go at will.

Actually, I think the entire walled medieval section of San Quirico is within 200 meters of the parking lot.

Thanks for the input, I think I will e-mail the hotel and ask if it is difficult to leave the hotel parking lot when we want to go.
