Paging @bobthenavigator and others for Amalfi Coast accommodation advice

@bobthenavigator posted this very helpful accommodation guide back in 2014, i wonder if there are any updates.

main reason being, some of these prices seem to have moved considerably. specifically, The Poseidon, which Bob has listed in the $200-350 range is in reality $590/night for a "Superior Double Room" - quite pricey but maybe the room is that nice?

anyway, here is his great list from 2014:

BOB’S FAVORITE HOTELS ON THE AMALFI COAST---2014

POSITANO: 3 STAR HOTELS---150 TO 250E FOR DOUBLE—AVERAGE 170E

1. www.villarosapositano.it Popular B&B with great views—lots of steps

2. www.hotelcaliforniapositano.it Small hotel near above—great terrace

3. www.casalbertina.it Fabulous views, but you will need good legs

That was 2014---things change.
Also, that is for a superior room.

i agree - do you have a 2017 list?

I agree with BTN's recs, even though prices have jumped in the last few years. If you want to stick to a certain price point, then use that filter on booking.com.

It is unfortunate that Bob did not bother to tell us WHY each of these hotels was his "favorite" but I guess everybody looks at things the same way these days.

Note Bob's prices were in Euros, so convert to whatever dollars you are using.

yes - i still think those prices are quite outdated. and price aside, i'd be curious if his recommendations have changed at all.

in addition i'd be curious as to the thoughts of "Standard Rooms" at some of the nicer properties such as Punta Regina and Buca di Bacco.

these rooms can be had within my budget but some (at least at the Regina) seem to have to deal with street views - and noise.

There are a lot of fans of hotel Poseidon in Positano on Fodors. It is up in the town so I would think not as likely to be as noisy as some of the locations closer to the beach. We met a couple from Boston on a trip a few years ago who were staying there and were very happy with the hotel.

Hotel Poseidon quoted me at $480 Euros for a classic double room on a "lower floor"

the price to value ratio there doesn't make sense for me

I second what yorkshire said on your other thread.
