Padlocks on the Paris Pont des Arts

We hadn't been on the pedestrian footbridge in quite a while, and were surprised to see a zillion padlocks fastened on the fences below the railings, all with initials and other inscriptions drawn or scratched on them. That led to a trip to Monoprix and the hardware department for one of our own.

Perhaps a Kenneth Clark re-enactment instead -

"I am standing on the Pont des Arts... "

(he would have been on the old bridge).

I just hope the municipal services keep cutting them off as fast as they are put on.

We put ours on last October for our 49th anniversary. They do remove them but the memories remain.
