Padirac to Rocamadour

We'll be finishing a tour at grotte de Padirac at noon on a Sunday and then going to Rocamadour. Any suggestions on where to get lunch?

Flem....from the Gouffre, drive just little further east to the "beaux village" of Autoire. In town, there will be a two story bullding on your left..up the stairs is an atmospheric creperie..with excellent choices, including wines...Creperie de la Cascade..beats most anything in Roc for lunch without the massive crowds.

Stu: Yes, that's the name of the place where we had lunch in Autoire last June. I couldn't remember the name of it. We had eaten there by default because the Auberge de la Fontaine was closed, but the food was really good (and the view wasn't bad either). They have a wide choice of decent set menus which include more than just galettes & crepes.

So, here's another thumbs up for that place, Flem. Autoire is very close to Padirac, so it's not too far out of your way at all. (Besides, the later in the day you visit Rocamadour, the more likely you'll miss the bulk of the crowds.)

P.S.: It looks like you missed tagging this for France, which might give you more responses.

I ate well (and not for great expense) at one of the tourist restaurants of Rocamadour. But if this does not appeal to you, the town of Gramat directly between the two places has a number of good options.

(Oh, I should have mentioned that my Rocamadour meal was on November 1st, which is a huge difference from the summer season!)

We had lunch at Le Prieure in Carennac after our visit to Gouffre de Padirac in July. I had a great salad, they also had crepes, omelettes, and a plat du jour.

The night before we had dinner at Creperie Esplanade in L'Hospitalet

The Creperie Esplanade was recommended to us by Christine, the owner of Domaine de la Rhue, where we spent our first night in France.

I recommend either of these places for your lunch.

She and Eric were great with their recommendations...she also touted the creperie in Autoire. Happy you had the opportunity to stay at the Domaine...still one of our Top Ten worlwide.

Does anyone know if any of these wonderful restaurants you recommended are open on Sunday?

kerouac Sep 7th, 2011 11:34 AM

Sunday is the busiest day in Rocamadour.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 01:01 PM.
