I'd say tube to Liverpool Street (no change on Circle or Hammersmith and City lines - though the two lines have separate stops at Paddington); then Stansted Express.

Or bus to Victoria, coach to Stansted (National Express, Terravision)

Or tube to Baker Street, Easybus to Stansted

Question for JOHNROB, when you say you are at Paddington, does that mean you've been somewhere else first or does it mean you are staying at Paddington?

alanRow asked the important questions. Do you mean Paddington Station, a hotel near Paddington, a hotel somewhere else, or arriving at Paddington from elsewhere???

In other words, what is you actual starting point.

janisj Jul 28th, 2007 06:47 AM

oh - and how long do you have for this transfer??

For Heathrow-Paddington, the Heathrow Connect train is much cheaper than the Heathrow Express. See www.heathrowconnect.com.

If you're willing to get up really early, you wouldn't have to spend the night at Stansted. National Express coaches run 24/7 between Victoria Coach Station and Stansted with stops at Marble Arch, Baker Street and St. John's Wood. See www.nationalexpress.com. Take a taxi from your hotel to the bus stop.

Rather than going to Paddington because it's convenient for Heathrow, why don't you stay somewhere else in London where it's easier to get to Stansted.

If you stay around Victoria and you can get direct coaches to Stansted - Tube to Hammersmith, walk a few yards to next platform, get Tube to Victoria.

Or find somewhere near Liverpool Street and be able to get the StEx - Heathrow Connect to Ealing Broadway, Tube to Liverpool Street

Either would be a lot less hassle than getting from Paddington to Stansted at 4:00am

In most cases I wouldn't stay at Paddington (unless I got a VERY good deal, or maybe if I wanted to take the HEX really early in the a.m.)

But especially if I was going to Stansted, I'd definitely stay in a different part of London. AlanRow's suggestions of near Victoria or Liverpool Street are both really good - but some other areas would also be more convenient than Paddington.
