Packing for Italy

I know this has been answered before, but this is the first time I have visited this site in 6 months. What to pack for Rome,Florence, Venice and Sorrento for a two week trip that includes lots of sightseeing and 1 or 2 informally dressed occasions.
I see the temperature is about like what we have in SC.Will it stay in that range the first through middle of September??
Thanks for the suggestions of any kind.

Have a look at this website:

I've visited Florence and Venice in early September and it was perfect. About 26C during the day and just cool enough to maybe need a light sweater later into the evening.

The secret is layering. Since no one call tell you what the weather will do, only what is has done in the past, just take thin layers that can give you some warmth on cool days or can be taken off and put in a bag or tied around your waist or shoulders. The early mornings and late evenings are generally cool so a swater is nice to have. For 2 weeks, I usually take 4 pairs of pants of varying weight and that don't wrinkle too easily. Make sure they can mix and match with about 3 light weight sweaters and have a couple of long-sleeve T-shirts or cotton shirts to go under your sweaters. Comfortable shoes are the key. Lots of posting about the best walking shoes, so do a search for that. Take a couple of scarves to dress things up in the evening and buy a pretty shawl or pashmina while you site-see. Fashionable and warm.

Safe travels.

Ha, ha, Bob the Nave, generally true, but in winter Venice is more like Columbus, OH!

Florence is like Memphis or Nashville.
