Overseas Cell Phone-Ireland

My cell phone will not work in Ireland. I would like to purchase one for the trip but just discussed Shannon airport, where we will fly in and out of, does not sell them. I don't want to drive around searching for the right shop in Ennis where we will first be to locate one. Any ideas? Or can I purchase one here in US which will definitely work in Ireland? Thanks.

Just go to Tesco's in Ennis and get a phone for about €20 and €10 credit which gives €20 to use in Ireland and international calls for 2cent/min. Where are you staying in Ennis? Tesco is on Francis Street http://tescomobile.ie/ http://goo.gl/maps/hvo05

Who is your service provider at home? Check with them about getting a GSM world phone is you want to use your own service. You can also purchase one from Amazon or buy one on eBay, and order at sim card that will work in Ireland.

If you can get your cell phone provider to give you the unlock codes you can get a new sim with free minutes at Tesco to put into the phone.
