Although I'm not a big fan of couchettes, in your situation, I think it's a good idea. You could get a 1st-class couchette cabin, which is a four-berth cabin with two-by-two bunks (couchettes).

I would suggest getting two cabins for two if it is in your budget. We had a couchette for three and were very cramped!

Hi nr,

Go to www.sncf.com.

In the lower left corner click the British flag.

There are two night trains at 20:24. the first is the regular fare.

For 2 adults and two children over 11, a 4-berth 2cl couchette is 633E. (Train 262)

Train 20262 is offering special fares of 115E for the family. However, you only get a reclining seat for your 13 hr ride.

You can fly from Vienna to CDG on www.airberlin.com for about 80E pp.

To reserve in US and to see about prices in $, which may be higher in this case, contact RailEurope - i always recommend RE's agent BETS (800-441-2387) but i think you'll do better on the site Ira mentions in this case (not always true -RailEurope's fares for Spanish night trains now are cheaper than those thru RENFE, Spanish rail sight in my research - and on Germany-France trains RE has similar discounted fares as you'd find onone thru German or French railways. But this train i think would be more expensive but you never know! You could probably wait to board in Europe if you'd be in the city a few days ahead of time - i always reserve as i go along and rarely have problems.
