Overnight Train
We're booked on an overnight train from Paris to Nice. Any tips or suggestions to "enhance" the experience ?

You can read an excellent note on the subject by Ben Haines at this url:

http://www.google.com/search?q=cache...j+haines&hl=en

Are you in a couchette? That is what we were in for an overnight trip from Paris to Lourdes. I am slightly clostrophobic and needed to take a nerve pill. VERY SMALL AND CROWDED!!!!

But after the pill kicked in I thought it was fun. Bring an alarm clock, no one will come in and tell you that it is time to depart. Also, from within the couchette, I could not hear the announcements.

Hi There, my husband and I have taken that very same overnight train twice. I hope you are in a first class sleeper!
You get bunk beds and a tiny sink. We loved it so much... the roll of the train and waking up in a new place were just divine.
You might want to check with your hotel in Paris to find out if you can check in very early.

I loved my overnight in a first class sleeper, but many times you arrive very early in the morning to your destination. I booked a hotel room for the night I was on the train so I could check in at 6 a.m. and sleep a while longer.
