Overnight Stopover Between Paris and Bordeaux
Driving at the end of May from Paris to Bordeaux for a 2-week stay. Can anyone recommend a place (and/or hotel) to spend a night sort of mid-way between the two cities? Thanks. Bill

Bill,
Just to limit the overload of information you are likely to get here, it would be better to be more specific. Because it is only a 5 1/2 hour drive on the autoroute, you could be more specific about how you are planning to travel, how many hours you want to drive each day, if you are planning to leave Paris in the morning, whether you want to be in the city or the country side, if you want to be able to have a dinner at the hotel, and what price range you are looking for. All that said, consider the Relais St. Germain near Limoges if you want a quiet but costly place in its own park setting not far off the direct route. |
Thanks, Jeff. We're driving. Leaving Paris on 31/5 but can't check in to our apartment in Bordeaux until 1/6. Just would like to stay someplace in between that is worthwhile. Not trying to rough it. Bill

La Rochelle.

La Rochelle or the island, or Floret on Ile de Re (Hotel Richleau is awesome if you can get a deal..sometimes it is possible.)

I agree with La Rochelle; delightful maritime town with a nautical feel. If not La Rochelle, then perhaps you might want to consider Angers, another great town worth a days' exploration.

Thanks. Have reservations at the Hotel Richlieu on Ile de Re. Bill
