I am taking the train from Berlin to Paris in a couple of weeks, and while I'm doing the trip is one day, my train goes through Strasbourg. I think that would be a nice place to stop over. (I'm traveling on New Year's Day so I have no idea if the route is a bit unusual).

Trains run on New Year's Day like any Sunday ususally but check www.bahn.de/en for definitive schedules. May cost a lot more to stop-off in Strasbourg but check and see.

You may want to compare pricing with buying one ticket Frankfurt-Strasbourg and one from there to Paris (www.voyages-sncf.com) as playing around on www.bahn.de quickly I could not see thru fares with stopover. But play around with it.

Hi PalenQ, I'm not sure if you are referring to my trip, but I already have my tickets. It's all set! I like to ride trains and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not stopping over. (Maybe you are giving advice to OP in case he's interested in that route)

Sorry Charlotte but I misread and thought you were thinking about stopping off and yes that is the real quickest route to Paris.
