Overnight Double - make advance reservations in US?

Hi, we are in the final stages of reservations of the Rail portion of our vacation. The first week of October, we will be leaving Venice for Vienna on the overnight train. We want to reserve a 'double' (private sleeping accomodation). BETS can do it at $263, but advises it may be less expensive and still available to make that reservation when we reach Italy (five days earlier). This is our first Rail experience in Europe, so for these novice travelers....would you recommend the BETS reservation to avoid any situations and guarantee availability? BETS is not able to tell us how MUCH less it might be there for the risk. THANKS!

Hi TS,

A double sleeper in 1cl on the 20:44 from Venice San Lucia is 198E. 2cl in a 4-person couchette is 118E.

Ira, is that price per person in the double or the total price? Is it inclusive of the train fare or just the cost of the sleeping accommodations?

Topping...if we can get Ira to clarify then you can decide if the BETS price is worth it or not.

That's terrific - at 198eu/250usd - it's not worth the risk to wait! And if the 198eu is per person....then it is much more expensive in country!

You're terrific! Thanks!

Hi TS,

2 people in a double 1cl sleeper and 2 people in a 4-person couchette - full price.

You want the 99E "Smart fare".

>BETS can do it at $263, ...<
Is that per person? :)
