Overnight Bus Turkey

Hi there!

Me and a few friends are travelling to Turkey at the end of April. We are flying in to Cappadocia (Kayseri) after spending some time in Istanbul. Our next stop after Cappadocia will be Dalyan. We need some advice on the best way to get there. At the moment it looks like we will need to book a flight from Kayseri to Dalaman that goes via Istanbul. This option is quite expensive (for Turkey) and also will take around 6 hours, if not more, by the time we check in, transit in Istanbul and catch the flight to Dalaman and then bus/shuttle to Dalyan.

We are open to taking an overnight bus from Cappadocia to Dalaman/Dalyan as this would be cheaper and save us a nights accommodation. We realise it will be uncomfortable and take 13 hours or so. We can't find much information on the internet about this option and would like to prebook or have a plan set in stone so we don't find we are stranded!

Does anyone know where I can find more info on overnight buses or anyone have experience taking one of there in the direction of Cappadocia - Dalaman.

Thanks

Metro bus company will take you from Nevsehir in Cappadocia to Dalaman, and possibly to Fethiye. It will be easy after that.

I did sa random check for April 20, as follows.

The site for all bus travel within Turkey may only be in Turkish but is very easy :

Are you sure you wish to get to Dalyan? and not Kas?

Metro is a good company.

Almost all buses are quite comfortable. The long distance buses will stop every few hours at 24 hour restaurants even if they do not always have a toilet aboard.

They also supply drinking water and possibly other amenities free of charge. Their speeds are controled and are quite safe, possibly with multiple drivers.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply, it is super helpful. The bus looks like a good option for us, and the website you recommended will be good to book it. We are flying to London from Dalaman and have 3 nights, 4 days so were thinking of basing ourselves in Dalyan as we want to do a daytrip to Pamukkale and also do the mudbaths, rock tombs and turtle beach. Do you think staying in Dalyan would be best for this?

Süha Turizm - http://www.suhaturizm.com.tr/ - has a night bus from Göreme to Ortaca (for Dalyan). And I think Tokat Yıldızı bus company also has one.

Reason I asked why you prefer Dalyan is because the sea will be cooler there in April not only because of the season but because it is on a river delta which will be bringing cold mountain water.

On the other hand, it is a good central location for the turtles, the rock tombs and mud baths. It is also a very British location.

Pamukkale will be too far for a day trip unless you are willing to rent a car or be herded in a group tour.

There are some other interesting sites like Saklikent, Tlos, Xanthos not as far away.
