Overnight between Biarritz and Toulouse?

Can anyone suggest a place to stop overnight between Biarritz and Toulouse? I will be driving, so I prefer some place that isn't in the middle of a city with traffic. It's just for an overnight stop, but I would love something with a little "charm" if possible. I prefer closer to Toulouse (south of this city). Cazeres? Muret? Soueich? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

When are you traveling and what is your budget? Cazeres is nice--good Saturday market. It's about 40 km south of Toulouse.

Do you want to stop as it's probably just about 3 to 3.5 hours from Biarritz to Toulouse?

I want to say St Lys, but I can't find the link for the nice hotel there/.

Yes, I want to stop overnight a little south of Toulouse. Toulouse is not my final destination. I'll be heading to Lacave(Lot) the next day to meet friends for a couple of nights. I want to drive from Biarritz, hopefully a scenic route, and stay overnight along the way. I don't want to push it and try to do the whole drive in one day. I'll look at Cazares and St. Lys. And I don't have to take the highway all the way, as I don't mind spending a little more time in the car if it's a prettier route. Thanks.

Alternately, I wonder if it would be nice to drive from Biarritz to LaCave through the Gers region. Any thoughts about this? I am told this is a lovely area of France.

I think the Gers is a better option for pretty places to stay.

We had a very nice stay in the Gers in this B&B. Lovely people. Old towns to visit in the area while driving there. Richard www.ardure.com

This B&B just outside Toulouse comes well recommended. I am reserved there for September and the hostess has been wonderful to deal with.

You could cut up through the Gers from say Pau or Tarbes. Pau has a very interesting old town which is not hard to get in and out of--it would be a nice stop for an hour or so.

Wish I could recommend a place in the Gers, we've been fortunate to stay with friends. Am sure you will get some good recommendations like the two already posted.

After bragging about the weather (I'm a little over an hour east of Toulouse), it's SNOWING today.

Correction, we are an hour east of Pau.

I would also recommend Pau. Try to get a meal at Le Berry - the chateaubriand is incredible.

Snowing today in the south of France. Near 80 in Massachusetts. World is topsy turvy.
